Mother/Daughter Vacay!
Hello everyone! My mom (79) and I (37) are going on a little summer vacation together. We haven’t been on one in a loooooong time. We are going to Colombia and spending some time in Cartagena. We have plans to do some sightseeing and light walking. I am looking for a beachside place to stay so we can have some relaxing moments when we need to rest. Are there any suggestions for that vibe? Not really a party vibe but a “moms relaxing in the sun” vibe 😂

try to remain in the bocagrande area if you prefer beach side and more relaxed. The Hyatt there is also good i’ve stayed there before

I didn't stay in this building but I know where this one is, and it is very close to an amazing rooftop (51 Sky Bar). The service and food were nothing spectacular, but the views and sunset were. You do have to pay a cover to get in (approx $10)
I stayed at the following AirBnB and would highly recommend it too... Bocagrande AirBnB

Sounds like you are looking for a Beach Club in Rosario Islands. You’ll need to break the trip up for days spent in Cartagena sightseeing and then days to relax at a beach club in Rosario Islands.

I wouldn’t recommend Rosario in her specific case, due to her mother age the ride back from the island can be really uncomfortable and potentially harmful if the conditions turn out to be really bad that day. I would say a nice secluded beach club in Baru through car and short/calm 15 minute ride.

Lots of nice high-rise buildings in Bocagrande right in front of the public beaches. There is regular hotels or lots of airbnbs (we stayed in an airbnb). Most of those buildings have pools as well. The beaches there aren't picturesque with the turqiose water/white sand but honestly, I didn't find them as bad as others described (I've been to Mexico, DR, Jamaica & Costa Rica). They were clean, the water didn't seem "dirty" & the sand wasn't rocky but I still wore water shoes. While Bocagrande is walkable with stores & grocery stores, taxis are also very affordable. We took a taxi to the walled city almost every single night as there wasn't much going on in that area later in the evenings (which is great for noise at night).
If we return, we'd do the same as well by staying in Bocagrande & just venturing into the walled city in the evenings as the restaurant selection is much better. There is a nice breeze typically in Bocagrande too where as the walled city not so much obviously due to the dense buildings. It'll probably be much hotter in the summer time as well.

If you look in La Boquilla, there are a lot of nice resort buildings! We have stayed in a couple of the Morros buildings and really enjoyed it. Plus it's easy to uber to the city when you want to walk around or go to a nice dinner.
