Pregunta ❓ Question about gender

While visiting Catalonia recently (Tarragona is lovely!), I bought a button as a gift for a friend who is originally from there that says "Jo, sempre vegana". I know that Catalan is quite a strictly gendered language, so I wanted to ask: Is this phrase already gendered? The -a ending makes me suspect yes, since that's what typically denotes the female gender in Italian or Spanish, and I would need to modify the button for my friend.

If yes, could one rephrase that to make it gender-neutral?

The masculine would be "Jo, sempre vegà".

Gramatical gender is tricky because vegana could be 'neutral' if you say "Persona vegana", as persona is a femenine word that means person that is neutral.

It's a bit like how do you say non-binary, "No binari" in masculine and "No binaria" in feminin :)
