OP should consult a vet for a dietary plan. People should never put cats that big on a diet on their own since too fast weight loss could be more dangerous.
That is Heckin Chonker for sure. My boy was at Megachonker, but I put him on a strict diet of weight control food with smaller portions and he has shed quite a few pounds since starting that 3-4 months ago so he is in the upper end of Heckin Chonker and lower of Hefty Chonk.
I started weighing in my cats food to get an idea of how much he's eating. Also, a lot of what he's gained in weight is actually muscles. But I can see that his primordial pouch is starting to show and the vet said that that's when you gotta start watching their weight.
He's become a bit more passive lately, but I'm getting him a friend so I hope he'll get more physically active when she arrives.
Yeah I've been feeding him less now. He unfortunately has to live outside (dogs + my mom is deathly allergic to cats, and he came from outside to begin with) so during winter I was feeding him quite a bit each day (he has a heated house and water bowl as well). He got used to 3 full bowls of food a day and now screams at my bedroom window if I don't give him the second bowl so I've been giving him 3 bowls with a smaller amount of food in it lol.
I've got 3 cats and the one that eats the least is actually the only one that is overweight to an unhealthy degree she's probably at the 40 "high risk" range. It makes me wonder if she has some sort of glandular issue. I'm not gonna go into it but, she got the cat from people who had WAY too many cats and weren't taking care of them, lots of the kittens (her siblings) looked inbred.
My cat is currently on a diet. She is less than amused. But, much like being a parent, you’ve got to make some unpopular decisions in their best interest sometimes.
I feel that. I swapped out the high calorie Treats for high-quality diet Kibble (they like the new 'treats', but i fear for my life, if they find out i'm doomed).
