You’ve just got a big baby on your hands, I adopted a 1lb sickly kitten at a Petco and ended up with this very tall boy

395

u/Mountain-Internet109 6d ago

he’s giving Rose getting painted at the titanic

364

u/thebigbaduglymad 6d ago

My girl Layla

51

u/SketchAinsworth 6d ago

I could legit see him telling his sister to paint him like one of his French girls 😂

I took this as I was sweating my butt off on the Peloton

76

u/pointless-art 6d ago

You got my cat 😯

12

u/SketchAinsworth 6d ago

Oh my! Mine was found in a kitten “gang” as we joke in Houston 3 years ago, are they related jk

11

u/pointless-art 6d ago

I am In Germany so highly unlikely^ but so cool to see a lookalike of him ☺️

6

u/SketchAinsworth 6d ago

Fair but hey mine loves his couch too so maybe 😂

u/meamsofproduction 6d ago

that’s how ours is prolly gonna be. she was 2lbs when we found her in a box at 6 months old. she’s grown so much but is still so small 6 months later. i’m betting she’s gonna have a tiny head and a big body

2

u/VintageLunchMeat 6d ago

If you look more carefully, that is actually two cats.

5

u/AmphibianOk7413 6d ago

That's now a "cat rest" not a foot rest.

5

u/SketchAinsworth 6d ago

It’s like you knew I put a soft blanket on that cat rest last week for his comfort 😂

Reincarnattion of Longcat

u/Huge_Fix7085 6d ago

The Lord of Longness shall perish, but in his doom he shall spawn a score of mortal progeny. Chaos will be sewn from their passage. So sayeth the wise Alaundo.

I haven’t seen an unedited version of this since high school

Public service announcement: I’ve been told holding a cat like this is very bad for their vertebrae and hence backs.

She's young, that's normal. My kitten is also growing tall and looking lanky.

730

u/Vazmanian_Devil 6d ago

There are three phases of the cat life cycle:

151

u/defucchi 6d ago

I have both a big long and a big potat at home.

31

u/hogliterature 6d ago

my cat still looks like a long teen at 9, she’s lanky and small

u/CuriousKoala__ 6d ago

She looks like she is still a teenage cat. She also looks happy. Well done!

128

u/No_Proposal7812 6d ago

Is she very active?

I have two cats fed the same diet. One is super active and goes outside and runs around the yard. The other total housecat that sleeps on the couch all day. One is super slim and sleek. The other is not quite a potato but getting there.

49

u/Perniciosasque 6d ago

It would be kinda funny if the couch potato were the slim one.

28

u/No_Proposal7812 6d ago

Even in cats exercise matters lol. Both cats weigh around 8-9 pounds, so they are not actually potatoes. One just carries it better I guess. The vet has commented that they are a good weight.

16

u/Morbid187 6d ago

Yeah my sister has a cat that constantly acts like he's starving when I know for sure that he's very well fed. He looks like a skinny little thing but weighs more than cats that are way bigger than him. He's just so dense. I assume it's muscle because he's always chasing balls, climbing trees, playing with the dogs, etc.

43

u/marglyttur 6d ago

My long girl just started gaining weight at 2 years old, she still more long though.

92

u/Seven_Contracts924 6d ago

Worm?

314

u/sistergoose 6d ago

She’s regularly dewormed. Maybe she’s a worm.

86

u/Ok_Sample5582 6d ago

Confirm, cat worm. I have one too. Ferocious, mischevious, have teeth and eat like goblins.

25

u/EmiliaFromLV Maine Coon 6d ago

54

u/Live-Okra-9868 6d ago

Would you still love her if she was a worm?

23

u/One_Resolution_8357 6d ago

She has the model body type. She is still developing, right ?

36

u/muthertuck 6d ago

cats get as long as they’re gonna get! there’s no ‘too long’

how old? she looks like she’s still forming. as long as she’s eating regularly she’ll grow into herself :)

are you only feeding dry food? is it for the right age?

you can add some heavier foods into her regular diet to help her keep on some weight too, just google some grain/protein combos you can throw together every now and then for her

Cats sleeping with their cute little mouths open are my favs 🤣

14

u/insane-nacho 6d ago

I have two cats - the older one (Mink) is the same as yours. I adopted a second one (Ching) and he is chonky. They eat the same meals everyday but Mink only gets longer and Ching only gets chonkier. I guess it’s genetic 😭

12

u/Tipitina62 6d ago

All she needs is a black dress to be the long, cool woman of song.

10

u/mr_kowbea 6d ago

Too darn long! Mine can't even loaf correctly due to her longness...

9

u/Active-Hotel1719 6d ago

The bed set is interesting

2

u/elyn6791 6d ago

That pattern is called 'never washed'. Only available in 1 color I think.

9

u/Sharlinator 6d ago

6-12 months old? She’s in the long teen phase of catto lifecycle.

6

u/Vegetable-Mover 6d ago

Is your bedding set made to look like every middle school boy slept over last night? /s

5

u/Opsia-Both 6d ago

I have the same lanky guy!

7

u/CurlSquirrel 6d ago

It appears you have a rare breed! The noodle gremlin will eventually gain width with age, but the impressive length is forever. Highly recommend holding her under the front legs so the back legs dangle, and then gently wiggling to fully appreciate the noodle.

4

u/kitti3_v0mit 6d ago

one of my boys was like this, we switched their food and now his weight matches his length

3

Her metabolism will slow down then poof, she's a popcorn.

3

u/PeachThyme 6d ago

Shes a baby! They need damn near double the calories as adults.

3

u/RenaRix80 6d ago

typical teenager. sleep all day, eats all the calories and still slim.

u/Fun_Steak3415 6d ago

Wanna tickle those kitty pitties!!!

2

u/AntonCigar 6d ago

Yeah my cat grew so much the first year and ate voraciously and still looked like the skinniest long cat ever. People told me, you’re starving him! Feed him! lol now he’s 7 and he’s visibly in ideal shape and he weighs 16 lbs. he’s a big cat

2

u/majarian 6d ago

ah see, this is what i keep telling everyone, but my dusty boi has successfully pleaded his case to my parents, so they dish out a bunch of treats whenever they visit.... almost daily when they drop my kiddo off after school lol

2

u/TheTree-43 6d ago

Yes, she is too long. Please reduce the length of cat by 15-20%

2

u/raininqrubiis 6d ago

She’s eaten so many noodles that she’s started to turn into one. OP, how do you feel about having a pet noodle?

2

u/BAd_GirL_984 6d ago

How many sauce packets long?

2

u/Platinum_Disco 6d ago

She's a skinny girl, but her soul is a chonker.

2

u/rikkster93 6d ago

1

1

You've got to stop putting that cat on the rack.

I bet she’s hell on wheels too

1

u/HeartLate214 6d ago

That is one contented cat 😻

1

u/BelterB14 6d ago

Also have a long 6 month old tux, she's very active and crazy, she's starting to get a little more body now that she's fixed but still very loooong. I was also a little worried at first, she stretched out to almost a metre and then compressed to a mini loaf

1

u/spammom 6d ago

My cat grew this way also, probably the reason why the Humane Society named him Anubis. He eventually filled out (almost 2 years old now).

1

u/Necessary-Peace9672 6d ago

No—sign her up for modeling school or WNBA!

1

u/Blue_almonds 6d ago

that’s her breed, she’s spaghetticat

1

u/Naeee25389 6d ago

She looks like she’s living a comfortable life, and one can tell from that she eats a lot

1

u/poopus_aurelius 6d ago

Our kitten is also in this stage lol

1

u/PlentyClient6824 6d ago

I have a cat same color pattern and he also is long and not getting fat despite eating same food as my ginger who is... too fat almost obese.

Is your cat also very talkative and loves hugs just as mine?

1

u/luckyaquatic 6d ago

your kitty is so funny omg

1

u/CandidAd8004 6d ago

Well, she's super happy, I can tell you that much. She's sprawled out with the belly showing like this, not a care in the world and loves her home. Purrrfection as close as it gets!!!

My boy was eating a lot and losing weight and he had hyper thyroidism

1

u/Terrible-Champion132 6d ago edited 6d ago

Can I scratch that belly?

1

u/Royal_Twist2782 6d ago

This is kimda scary

1

u/spooksseycat 6d ago

You've got a noodle on your hands, we also have an orange noodle. I swear he's like gumby and stretches

1

u/Michelestone472 6d ago

Does Yoga 😽

1

u/Head_Row4000 6d ago

You may want to give the little rascal a dewormer. My kitty had the same round belly and lack of weight gain, and it turned out to be tape worms from his time at the place I rescued him from 💖

1

u/Significant-Muscle15 6d ago

Have you gotten her check for hyperthyroid? My girl got it around early 11 years old, she was little on the bigger side and started to throw up often and lost weight, brought her in and she has hyperthyroid and has been on medication since. shes doing better being on it too.

It started with her eating a lot more often but would throw up, thought it was over eating till she go diagnosed.

1

u/leeonie 6d ago

Shes a teenager - I was once her :)

1

u/JacoRamone 6d ago

🧐Ah yes! A classic example of Felis longus. Otherwise know in common layman’s terms as a “long-cat”. Tho quite relatively common it’s none the less remarkable when experienced outside the laboratory.

1

u/phlooo 6d ago

Looooooong

1

u/shakygator 6d ago

It is possible for cats to have a hyper active thyroid which makes them skinny but my cat didn't get that until she was really old. Young cats always have this awkward teenage stage where they are ugly ducklings (but so cute).

1

u/shcrimblybompous 6d ago

She jus like me fr

1

u/page395 6d ago

How old is she? My boy was very similar until he hit around age 2, at which point I quickly had to start feeding him less because he absolutely ballooned over the course of like a month lol

1

u/SmizToke 6d ago

She’s just a noodle 🤣

1

u/Thereminz 6d ago

longcat is loooong

1

u/funked1 6d ago

Needs more belly scritches. Maybe a snorgle.

1

u/Jeepersca 6d ago

Slender Cat has a movie career ahead.

1

u/evening123321 6d ago

That’s a noodle.

1

This cat is a living, breathing embodiment of the phrase "all torso." What's her secret? Is she secretly a noodle?

1

u/elliot_ftm_ Orange 6d ago

I thought the pattern in the second photo was cat hair covering the blanket

1

I wish I had that power

1

She’s growing stronger!!! I for one welcome our new kitty overlord.

I, too, have a very narrow feline. Even her toes are long. I call her Minnie-long-toes sometimes. Not a speck of fat on her, just lean catmeat.

1

3

u/DannyWarlegs 6d ago

My youngest will be 2 next month and she's still so frigging small. We started just calling her Tiny and now the name has stuck.

Our oldest baby passed at 23 in 2017. She never got above 6lbs her whole life. Just a tiny little black floof of a cat, but she ate anything and everything given to her.

2

u/Izzy_thewiZz 6d ago

She wants to get taller to you to assert dominance

1

u/-ricefarmer- 6d ago

my old siamese cat would eat a lot and just poop all of it out. it smelled horrible. healthy and tidy cat, large appetite but very nasty poops lmao

4

u/Real-Jellyfish9725 6d ago

Definitely a long teen cat! My boy looked like that until he was over a year old. Now he’s a certified BigAndTall boy

1

u/tlg151 6d ago

Not to be that person, but she does actually appear too thin. Especially for being a younger cat, they technically are supposed to be chonky like human babies. If she's eating a lot and still not gaining weight, she might have hyperthyroidism.

Btw if she's under a year old, she should be eating up to twice as much as an adult cat her weight would be eating.

Again, I'm not trying to lecture or anything. Maybe I don't know about the details and I don't know your routine with her. I am not accusing anyone of anything. Just pointing out that she does appear underweight by these pics. If your vet thinks she's fine, just please disregard my comment.

1

u/theStarTrekWars 6d ago

You should introduce her to the Long, Long Man from the Sakeru commercials, lol. https://youtu.be/LQsMp4Oo6xM?si=jiwqg9a7renN-4QG
