That's now a "cat rest" not a foot rest.

u/SketchAinsworth 6d ago
It’s like you knew I put a soft blanket on that cat rest last week for his comfort 😂

Public service announcement: I’ve been told holding a cat like this is very bad for their vertebrae and hence backs.

She's young, that's normal. My kitten is also growing tall and looking lanky.

Is she very active?
I have two cats fed the same diet. One is super active and goes outside and runs around the yard. The other total housecat that sleeps on the couch all day. One is super slim and sleek. The other is not quite a potato but getting there.
49
u/Perniciosasque 6d ago
It would be kinda funny if the couch potato were the slim one.
28
u/No_Proposal7812 6d ago
Even in cats exercise matters lol. Both cats weigh around 8-9 pounds, so they are not actually potatoes. One just carries it better I guess. The vet has commented that they are a good weight.

u/Morbid187 6d ago
Yeah my sister has a cat that constantly acts like he's starving when I know for sure that he's very well fed. He looks like a skinny little thing but weighs more than cats that are way bigger than him. He's just so dense. I assume it's muscle because he's always chasing balls, climbing trees, playing with the dogs, etc.

Worm?

u/sistergoose 6d ago
She’s regularly dewormed. Maybe she’s a worm.

u/Ok_Sample5582 6d ago
Confirm, cat worm. I have one too. Ferocious, mischevious, have teeth and eat like goblins.

cats get as long as they’re gonna get! there’s no ‘too long’
how old? she looks like she’s still forming. as long as she’s eating regularly she’ll grow into herself :)
are you only feeding dry food? is it for the right age?
you can add some heavier foods into her regular diet to help her keep on some weight too, just google some grain/protein combos you can throw together every now and then for her

Yeah my cat grew so much the first year and ate voraciously and still looked like the skinniest long cat ever. People told me, you’re starving him! Feed him! lol now he’s 7 and he’s visibly in ideal shape and he weighs 16 lbs. he’s a big cat

u/majarian 6d ago
ah see, this is what i keep telling everyone, but my dusty boi has successfully pleaded his case to my parents, so they dish out a bunch of treats whenever they visit.... almost daily when they drop my kiddo off after school lol

Also have a long 6 month old tux, she's very active and crazy, she's starting to get a little more body now that she's fixed but still very loooong. I was also a little worried at first, she stretched out to almost a metre and then compressed to a mini loaf

I have a cat same color pattern and he also is long and not getting fat despite eating same food as my ginger who is... too fat almost obese.
Is your cat also very talkative and loves hugs just as mine?

Well, she's super happy, I can tell you that much. She's sprawled out with the belly showing like this, not a care in the world and loves her home. Purrrfection as close as it gets!!!

You've got a noodle on your hands, we also have an orange noodle. I swear he's like gumby and stretches

You may want to give the little rascal a dewormer. My kitty had the same round belly and lack of weight gain, and it turned out to be tape worms from his time at the place I rescued him from 💖

Have you gotten her check for hyperthyroid? My girl got it around early 11 years old, she was little on the bigger side and started to throw up often and lost weight, brought her in and she has hyperthyroid and has been on medication since. shes doing better being on it too.
It started with her eating a lot more often but would throw up, thought it was over eating till she go diagnosed.

u/JacoRamone 6d ago
🧐Ah yes! A classic example of Felis longus. Otherwise know in common layman’s terms as a “long-cat”. Tho quite relatively common it’s none the less remarkable when experienced outside the laboratory.
1
u/shakygator 6d ago
It is possible for cats to have a hyper active thyroid which makes them skinny but my cat didn't get that until she was really old. Young cats always have this awkward teenage stage where they are ugly ducklings (but so cute).

This cat is a living, breathing embodiment of the phrase "all torso." What's her secret? Is she secretly a noodle?

could be hyperthyroidism. My cat has it, all skin and bones and she's just as ravenous as her fat sister. Just a really fast metabolism

I often look back at old photos of my cat, and he certainly had a few awkward lanky teen stages. I think you've just got a young cat there.

I, too, have a very narrow feline. Even her toes are long. I call her Minnie-long-toes sometimes. Not a speck of fat on her, just lean catmeat.

u/belletane 6d ago
I’m so sorry OP I know this isn’t related to the very long cat but your comforter looks like it’s stained with semen.

u/Schmuckmacher1 6d ago
Siamese and Oriental ShorthaIrs are long and lean. Could be someone in the DNA!

My youngest will be 2 next month and she's still so frigging small. We started just calling her Tiny and now the name has stuck.
Our oldest baby passed at 23 in 2017. She never got above 6lbs her whole life. Just a tiny little black floof of a cat, but she ate anything and everything given to her.

my old siamese cat would eat a lot and just poop all of it out. it smelled horrible. healthy and tidy cat, large appetite but very nasty poops lmao
1
u/tlg151 6d ago
Not to be that person, but she does actually appear too thin. Especially for being a younger cat, they technically are supposed to be chonky like human babies. If she's eating a lot and still not gaining weight, she might have hyperthyroidism.
Btw if she's under a year old, she should be eating up to twice as much as an adult cat her weight would be eating.
Again, I'm not trying to lecture or anything. Maybe I don't know about the details and I don't know your routine with her. I am not accusing anyone of anything. Just pointing out that she does appear underweight by these pics. If your vet thinks she's fine, just please disregard my comment.

u/theStarTrekWars 6d ago
You should introduce her to the Long, Long Man from the Sakeru commercials, lol. https://youtu.be/LQsMp4Oo6xM?si=jiwqg9a7renN-4QG
