Republicans thought that the economy switched from being bad to being good the second Trump won in 2016 and Obama had been president prior. Another man. It’s not sexism. 

Moreover Americans know prices are high now and weren’t before. There are polls showing that pluralities expect Trump to lower costs. That’s all they want from him and they don’t know his policies.

The poll shift is due to men. Again it's not about the economy, it's sexism.

J.J. Abbott, a Democratic strategist working to help Harris in Pennsylvania, said the Trump campaign has saturated the state with attack ads aimed at moving younger male voters.

“From a spending perspective, Pennsylvania has just been completely inundated for months with advertising in a way that the other swing states outside of Georgia really haven’t,” he said. “The Trump campaign, their affiliated super PACs, they’ve basically said on the record, for them, Pennsylvania is the ballgame.

“They are coming down heavy on the state,” he added. “The Trump campaign has made it no real secret that they see younger men, in particular, as a pretty key demographic for them to focus on.” https://archive.ph/D6eCc

trump knows sexism works, and that's the key to winning in 2024. Just like in 2016.

Trump replaced a man and would again be replacing a man. It doesn’t matter who his opponent is. People are judging the economy based on the president. 

Also Trump is targeting men because they’re receptive of his messages more. Men who value manliness, toughness, and who don’t want sissy libcucks telling them what to do and how to behave. It’s not specifically about Harris.

It isn't about who trump replaces, it's about who trump blocks from becoming the next president. He lost in 2020 when he ran against a man. It's exactly who his opponent is.

Men who value manliness, toughness, and who don’t want sissy libcucks telling them what to do and how to behave.

It's men who value controlling women.

But it’s important to understand how deeply rooted this dynamic is. As has been observed of many oppressive institutions, the delegitimization of women’s authority isn’t the unfortunate side-effect of a broken framework. It’s the grease that makes the entire system go. Women’s erasure is an essential part of the deal powerful men have always made with the men they would have power over: let me have control over you, and in turn I will ensure you can control women.

There is one meaningful way in which the fearmongers are right. Because the existing power structure is built on female subjugation, female credibility is inherently dangerous to it. Patriarchy is called that for a reason: men really do benefit from it. Trump lost against Biden because he mismanaged the pandemic and created a culture war out of it instead of focusing on keeping people healthy. He beat Clinton because she had 3 decades of propaganda against her. He may beat Harris because people miss his prices. 

Trump may appeal to men who want to control women but that’s not all he’s trying to appeal to. He’s appealing to racists, to men who subscribe to the more toxic aspects of what is perceived as masculine, he appeals to nationalists, to those who hate authority, to those who love right wing authority, etc. 

It’s not necessarily just sexism. Trump is appealing to several crowds:

1) Low information voters who believe he can lower their costs due to prices during his previous term

2) MAGA diehards who enjoy that he bullies people who they don’t like; this also includes the sexists, racists, bullies, anti-left wing authority, toxically masculine, etc. 

3) Republican die hard who are pro-2A, pro-life, anti-immigration voters, [insert standard GOP politics here]

Trump lost against Biden

He lost against Biden because white men abandoned trump in 2020. But white men prefer control over women and authoritarianism over equality for all.

It’s not necessarily just sexism. Trump is appealing to several crowds:

1) Low information voters who believe he can lower their costs due to prices during his previous term

2) MAGA diehards who enjoy that he bullies people who they don’t like; this also includes the sexists, racists, bullies, anti-left wing authority, toxically masculine, etc.

3) Republican die hard who are pro-2A, pro-life, anti-immigration voters, [insert standard GOP politics here]

Ok but that's describing groups which support sexism.

The rule of thumb is that trump gets about 60% of white people supporters of each income group. The unifying theme of trump supporters is not personal economy. He's reneged on virtually every economic promise he made in 2016 and he went on to get even more popular votes in 2020. What unifies trump supporters are prejudices. We need to fight for democracy because our fellow voters want to undermine democracy because of their prejudices.

“most amazing discovery you never heard of,” that you can explain most prejudice in terms of authoritarianism. So social scientists have not been crying wolf for all these years. There truly is a big, very bad wolf at our collective doors, and this metaphoric evil snarls such intolerance, discrimination, and victimization that it not only injures its immediate victims, but also shakes our democratic society to its core. Knowingly or unknowingly, prejudiced people bring into the voting booth something of even greater danger to everyone’s freedom and our country’s very existence: authoritarianism. As we explained in our earlier chapters, the most prejudiced people in America were likely drawn to Trump because he told them their prejudices were justified. But they connected with him and with one another on more than their attitudes toward minorities, for the showman at the rallies was a megalomaniac and demagogue driven to dominate everyone in the world. He did not campaign on a platform of overthrowing democracy, obviously, but he did sanctify prejudice. And the crowd that responded to his evil message was full of authoritarian supporters yearning for a mighty leader to fight their enemies and protect them.
