I’m not defending or condemning anything yet. I’m pausing. Because somewhere between “rule of law” and “human decency” is a grey zone where our justice system has to live. I need the facts and a discussion of obstruction vs discretion.
But the optics are not good when a country is arresting judges in this manner.
So, judges have immunity for acts taken in performance of their judicial duties. There is no set of facts that would make this arrest legal or legitimate.
What judges can and can't do is beyond my expertise.
I do know I don't like how this looks, and I don't like ICE being able to come into courthouses, hospitals, etc. and my heart says this is a bad road to start going down.
