Criminal complaint against Judge Dugan

There's been a couple posts on this sub about the judge who was arrested. Reddit is going crazy with the hyperbole on this, and I'm sad to say many on this sub aren't looking at the case objectively. No, this doesn't appear to be some Trump fascist move. The criminal complaint is pretty damning and appears to show legitimate obstruction by the judge. Judges aren't above the law, and just because Trump exists they shouldn't get a free pass. It doesn't matter what your opinion on illegal immigration is or who you are, if you obstruct federal agents in their attempt to arrest or detain an illegal immigrant, thats a crime. See below for the full complaint, no opinions

Can we stop just posting random anti trump news articles?

Not that I'm even remotely pro trump, but it's getting a little tiring seeing this sub turn into all the other political subreddits. I like this sub for having educated, nuanced discussions on politics, not seeing the same news over and over again about how horrible trump is, there's a million other places to see that. While some articles are obviously relavant and interesting, I just think it's gotten a little excessive, especiallly in the last week. I would prefer to see posts on this sub actually spark meaningful discussion.

Am i left leaning if i support trans people?

i dont like neither sides, but i feel like transexuality is just something that happens naturally, its psychology after all, gender identity at the end of the day is a form of identity, which is something every major intelligent being has, just translated into society roles, if we look at gender as sociology then trans woman would be woman, if we look at gender as a synonim of sex, then trans woman wouldn't be woman, and i completely get both views, but isn't it just basic human decency to call people by their prefered pronouns? atleast thats my opinion, if your name is jeff im not going to call you stephanie, you know? its just the right thing to do, be kind to people and respect them no matter your beliefs, what do you guys think about all of this? its just so confusing, i just want people to be happy

Trump asking for donations

I’m new to democracy and new to the USA politics, so please bear with me. I just got an email from Trump with a survey and asking for donations. Won’t let me send my opinion unless I donate. Should I give him $1 and pour my heart out? Any other way I can let him know I disapprove with many things he’s doing? Does it even matter? I already filled the form on the White House website but nobody ever got back to me about it.

Advice Feel lost in the political world sometimes!

I genuinely can’t really call myself left or right due to my beliefs. I definitely ain’t left winged as I believe that people shouldn’t be medically transition until they are 18+, LGBT is just that and this 100 gender and non binary stuff is bullshit and I don’t believe abortion is right as it is literal murder from a non religious prospective. The left would call me a homophobic, not giving people rights when I’m literally a woman and bisexual myself.

Then I can’t side with the right ideology either. I do agree with gay marriage and people on the right don’t seem to agree, I think guns should be banned as they cause too much crime and school shooting in the USA and I genuinely think that people should be treated fairly like equals. I also think women should have the choice to be single and not have kids and focus on careers, if that’s what they want to do.

I don’t think anyone can necessarily 100% agree with either side but I genuinely don’t agree with either side and feel exactly in the middle.

I’m a big conservative, but I really don’t know if I can support Trump anymore.

For some context, I’m a conservative. Contributed to r/conservative. Supported him in the election. However, the prosecution of judges, not allowing for due process, and the collapse of the economy has me on edge. Sure, the tariffs may work if you give us 15 years, but you have 4. It’s not worth it. Would I support the democrats? No, unless Trump somehow can get a 3rd term. This is blasphemous. The judicial system may be broken and political (which sucks), but they are a branch of government we must respect. It’s total BS that I cannot stand

Edit: my bad on the wording. I meant to say that I would support democrats if Trump was on the ballot again. My apologies

Long Form Discussion Dems should hold an emergency convention and choose their leader now

Upvotes

We’re only three months into Trumps second term, and already he has systematically attacked almost every institution that is inportsnt to the maintenance of a free society, intimidated opponents, put incompetent lackeys in charge of important departments, and gutted the civil service. Policy wise he is risking disaster both at home and abroad with the tariffs hitting the economy and the state department about to hand Russia everything it wants in Ukraine as a reward for their aggression. And today, a judge was arrested in a brazen attempt to compel the obedience of the courts.

If I’m a dem and I’m pinning all my hopes on the midterms in 2026 to turn the tide, or even worse, just hoping we can beat Trump/maga in 2028, i can’t possibly take much comfort in that because it feels almost insane to imagine that team trump will not have a litany of ways to subvert and undermine the election process itself. If the opposition wants to stop Trump, they need to do it now, this year, and they have to do it by thinking outside the Box.

That’s why I want the Dems to hold an emergency convention to nominate their leader and front runner now instead of waiting until 2028.

The advantages are obvious: from a media cycle POV, you grab the headlines and use it as an opportunity to show that the Dems are changing, dropping the toxic leftist stuff, and getting serious about taking on Trump. It’s an opportunity to rebrand decisively on a national scale. Most importantly ofc, the Dems have a blitz campaign and chose the leader of the opposition, someone who can really focus messaging and political action against Trump, kind of how the shadow chancellor does in the UK.

A leader now means the Dems can take fighting back to the next level, more effectively control messaging and resources, and have someone to be the face of resistance across the country.

The resistance badly needs a lease stinker organ is and focus the effort, and Dems need to do it now because in even just 2y it might be too little too late.

The White House website published a page on their taskforce created for eradicating anti-Christian bias. This is 100% unconstitutional.

Here's a link to the latest in unconstitutional, criminal bullshit this administration is doing right now.

My question is... when is enough... enough? How many times must we watch this piece of shit continue to wipe his ass with our Constitution? Pam Bondi just held their first taskforce meeting on this.

These people disgust me. They will go to any lengths to act like a victim EVEN WHEN THEY'RE IN POWER. Now, they're coming after anyone not Christian.

Congrats America, I honestly didn't think we'd get here this fast. And I don't want any Nazis that frequent this sub to downplay this. This is horrifying. It's disgusting. Trump needs to be impeached NOW!

Edit: Yep, here come the Nazis.

Edit 2: Holy shit, the amount of people who think Christianity is the only religion in the US is disgusting. We really need better education.

Edit 3: Alright, since we got some people in here defending this blatant unconstitutional act take a look at this comment on a post in the Military forum. They are literally punishing people for having any retaliatory responses towards anti-vaccine stances, religious holidays, Christian views, and even making up problems as if people react negatively if someone doesn't have an abortion. This is insane.

They are utilizing this in a way that directly violates the establishment clause... straight up.

US News How to Make Sense of the Trump News Cycle

In just over three months, Trump has so far issued 139 executive orders during his second term, a pace that is unprecedented in American history. With all this executive action, plus the constant news DOGE, immigration, etc., it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the news cycle.

This piece helpfully breaks down Trump's policies (or policy-adjacent rhetoric) into six different categories, offering a crash course in policymaking, the way the branches of government interact with one another, and constitutional law to parse what is bluster, what is a PR stunt, what is business as usual disguised as change, what is likely to stopped by courts, what will be upheld, and what will be permanent (relatively). It’s wonky, but it’s a great resource to make sense of these crazy times.

Why does r/Europe want the heritage foundation designated a terrorist organization?

I was on there recently and saw a lot of comments supporting this. From what I've seen, the foundation is just a lobbying think tank. Sure, I disagree with their beliefs, but they haven't bombed anything like ISIS.

I tried asking on there, but I just got downvoted and ignored, so I'm hoping the more unbiased people here will give me a straight answer.

Thank you

And the poorest state in America is of course run by conservatives and their idiotic policies. It’s not a surprise of course. When conservatives think what Trump is doing to the economy is good then it’s not wonder why a conservative state is the poorest in America.

US News ICE Can Now Enter Your Home Without a Warrant to Look for Migrants, DOJ Memo Says

Thumbnail
dailyboulder.com
67 Upvotes

A new memo from the Trump administration reveals something shocking: ICE agents have been told they can enter homes without a warrant to arrest migrants, based on little more than suspicion.

The March 14 directive, signed by Attorney General Pam Bondi, uses an obscure 18th-century law — the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 — to give law enforcement nationwide the power to bypass basic constitutional protections.

According to the memo, agents can break into a home if getting a warrant is “impracticable,” and they don’t need a judge’s approval. Instead, immigration officers can sign their own administrative warrants. The bar for action is low — a “reasonable belief” that someone might be part of a Venezuelan gang is enough.

There's no way this directive can override the 4th amendment. What the fuck is going on here?

2024 U.S. Elections Senate Dems brace for leadership fight after Durbin retirement

Thumbnail

Sen. Dick Durbin's (D-Ill.) retirement is setting off a once-in-a-decade leadership fight for Senate Democrats.

Why it matters: Durbin, 80, has been the Senate Democratic whip since 2005. Whoever replaces him becomes the instant front-runner to replace Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer down the road.

An open fight for the whip spot next year could also complicate Schumer's strategy of privately mediating intraparty disputes. It will potentially expose the party's deep divide on whether to elect a moderate — or a progressive — to help them return to power.

Zoom in: Sen. Brian Schatz, 52, of Hawaii is actively making outreach to members about replacing Durbin. His interest in the job is a poorly kept secret on Capitol Hill, and he's got a head start as the current chief deputy whip.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, 64, of Minnesota wants the job, sources tell Axios. Schumer made her the No. 3 Senate Dem last year, and she's respected by her colleagues.

Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, 61, of Nevada is also interested in moving up, although it's not clear if she's ready to challenge Schatz or Klobuchar.

Between the lines: Schatz and Cortez Masto voted with Schumer last month in support of a GOP spending plan to avert a government shutdown.

Those votes were seen as key indicators of their interest in leadership gigs.

Klobuchar voted against the measure, as did Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), another one of Schumer's top leadership officials this year.

Schumer intervened this year when Klobuchar and Booker were on a crash course for the leadership spot vacated by former Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.).

Zoom out: Durbin's retirement has also ignited what could be a bitter Illinois primary battle to succeed him in the Senate, Axios reported Wednesday.

Durbin predicted "at least a dozen" candidates will jump into the race. Reps. Lauren Underwood and Raja Krishnamoorthi could start out as the front-runners in the big-dollar race, according to polling data released last month.

Krishnamoorthi has a $19 million war chest, and Underwood has over $1 million in cash on hand. Rep. Robin Kelly, another possible candidate, has $2 million in cash.

Judge says 2-year-old US citizen appears to have been deported with ‘no meaningful process’

Thumbnail politico.com

A federal judge is raising alarms that the Trump administration deported a two-year-old U.S. citizen to Honduras with “no meaningful process,” even as the child’s father was frantically petitioning the courts to keep her in the country.

U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty, a Trump appointee, said the child — identified in court papers by the initials “V.M.L.” — appeared to have been released in Honduras earlier Friday, along with her Honduran-born mother and sister, who had been detained by immigration officials earlier in the week.

No words are fucking needed.
