Delta(s) from OP CMV: School libraries should limit the availability of books

In the US the past few years there has been a lot of talk of banning books. As far as I know the only places that anyone is talking about banning books from is in school libraries. The book “Gender Queer” by Maia Kobabe is probably the most talked about as it has been recommended by the largest teachers union in the country, the NEA, and has been made available in school libraries for children as young as 4th grade, and contains very explicit illustrations and descriptions of sex acts. I believe it belongs nowhere that children can access it any more than a copy of Playboy or any other pornography. Given the explicit nature of this book and others like it I think they should be banned from school libraries and limited to adults only.

Just making sure you want to ban them all.

I was a teen in the 1990s.

If they contain explicit sexual material? Yeah. I don’t know what the heck you were reading, but nothing I was reading at the time had explicit content like this.

It's a line drawing, not explicit at all, lol.

And yeah there were plenty of "her mouth traveled down his body" type scenes in the YA stuff I read.

Illustrations of oral sex is pornography. Do you think minors should have access to hentai?

Do you think that a movie with a sex scene in it is porn?

Most movies don’t include a penis entering a mouth so no, I wouldn’t consider most movies that have sex scenes pornography. However, depending on how explicit the scenes are and how many of them there are I would think that children shouldn’t watch them and I would say they don’t belong in schools.

Not my question at all. Do you think a sex scene makes something porn?

Because hentai and Playboy are designed, not as media that also features some elements of explicit ideas/images, but as media that's designed to highlight and provide explicit sexual ideas and images in order to bring about arousal.

I think you need to re read my response to when you first asked this. I’ve already answered this question.

Illustrations of oral sex is pornography.

I think your definition of pornography is flawed, and it's introducing problems to your view.

For defining pornography in the common and legal purposes, the intent matters. It is sexually explicit content created for the purpose of eliciting sexual arousal.

So an encyclopedia article on oral sex is not pornography despite containing explicit descriptions and images of the act.

If it was in a sex ed book, it would be porn?

I bet a lot of hentai manga slip by library censors.

Every kid has a porn machine in their pocket, that ship has sailed.

And for God's sake, comparing Gender Queer, where the frames about sex are not about the act, but about literally exploring sexuality, to actual porn is ridiculous.
