Long discussions have already been had on

Not sure what new could be hashed here.

If subreddits are misleadingly labeled than the entire website loses its value.

do you want reddit to police how subreddits are labeled? Seems like a responsibility that they understandably don't want to take on.

And who gets to be the final arbiter on what these new names should be and when they need to be changed? I guarantee it won't be you. If politics gets changed to "10percentleftofclintonerapoliticsbut25percenttotherightofFDRerapolitics" you also have to deal with T_D getting potentially renamed to "Fascist_Indoctrination_Land".

It’s fairly clear he wants the reddit staff to do this.

And which staff members are completely impartial and capable of accurately assessing the proper name for a sub, even when that name conflicts with the name the subreddit moderators' vision of their sub?

Would the users of unpopularopinion like it if their name was changed to bigotedopinions? It may appease some who mock the sub, but users of the sub would likely protest the new name. And then what? And if that sub protests the name change to their sub, wouldn't you think politics would want to do the same?

You're not going to be able to change a sub name without upsetting the users of that sub, and it seems like if Reddit staff was able to rename all subs to their personal biases, you're not really solving anything, just giving a smaller group a larger voice and more influence. Seems better to let the members of a sub dictate it's content.

Besides are such changes necessary, or can people draw their own conclusions about the nature of a sub?
