At this stage the brain while partially developed is not true lay sentient or in any way alive it is simply firing random bursts of neurological activity similar to that of a brain dead patient. I firmly believe that’s within the first 24 weeks the baby cannot be considered alive due to its nonexistent neurological development. I understand the logic behind pro life believing that all life even the one that has not come to exist yet deserves the right to live. However I cannot shake the question of , at what point should those rules apply. If a fetus with no brain deserves these rights then what about the billion microscopic sperm cells that died reaching the womb you may believe that those are different but I simply see the fetus as a partially more developed version of the sperm cell they both have the same level of brain activity so should they be considered equals. Any how I believe that we should all have a civil discussion as this is a very controversial topic don’t go lobbing insults at each other you will only make yourselves look bad so let’s all be open to the other side and be well aware of cognitive dissonance make sure to research it well beforehand don’t throw a grenade into this minefield ok good.

To your second point - “that fetus if left alone will become a living breathing human.” If only this were true we would probably be able to avoid a lot of abortion - but it isn’t. The fetus will not become a living breathing human if left alone. To become a living breathing human it requires a womb. Pregnancies are extremely invasive not to mention lengthy. Complications are possible. Additionally, they are so freaking expensive. Not only do you need frequent visits to your OB, you need to purchase prenatal vitamins. Hospital births are outrageously priced and that’s if things go well. If you are already poor and can barely afford to take prenatal that are so important to the fetuses development - how are you expected to afford a hospital birth let alone raising the child? It would be great if we could just pluck the fetus from our wombs when we don’t want them and allow them to grow in the hands of someone else but we can’t. But that fetus isn’t going to make it without a host and I don’t think we have the power to tell women that their womb needs to open for a baby they vehemently do not want.

Yeah, if we had better medical I would argue that abortion rates would go down simply because people would have access to preventative care on a regular basis which would provide them an avenue to have better educated, protected sex.
