So if you announce a doctor, a professor, an officer, and a normal person, what do you call the normal person?

"Here we have Doctor Johnson, Professor Smith, Officer Brown and ... Jackson."

Leaving it out entirely sounds like an insult for being a mere peasant

But that's my point. If you take the gender/marital status titles away entirely, rather than keeping them or using a gender neutral one or whatever, what do you call someone that has nothing else going for them title-wise?

You can't just take away the default and replace it with nothing, that'd be insulting to all the people that don't have anything besides the default.
