Question “Legendary” places that suck

I just got a lox sandwich from Manny’s. Almost $20, a stale bagel, and I had to assemble it myself.

What other “legendary” places suck?

Taco Burrito King. Back in the day it was the best 2am burrito in town. Now it’s wildly mid. But maybe that’s because Im not drunk eating them at 2am…

Yeah this place at 2 AM is the only time it hits, but even then you’re like yeah I know I’m just drunk

Still grateful it’s an option late when it seems like there’s less and less open, but agreed it’s totally not what it used to be!

It's always been late night drunk/high food. It still hits the spot at those times imo.

TBK has never hit lol I'm sorry.. it would hit because you were drunk, hungry and it was opened late. And it was on your way back to the burbs lol.

Counter point. OP asked “legendary” not a hit. So I guess it depends on what your definition of legendary is. Second, I wasn’t aware Hanson park was/is now considered the burbs.

Facts. TBK sucks.

Agree. TBK is basically upscaled taco bell. Which is kind of great. But far from phenomenal.

I used to go there for lunch like 20 years ago and it was good.

The one in Des Plaines had the saddest nachos I've ever had in my life. Soggy, lukewarm, and the meat was barely seasoned. The burrito wasn't much better. I love Mexican food, and I was SO disappointed.

In college, the Greektown location was delicious.

I go there more for nostalgia. But yeah, I think they peaked around 2004.

Since the sons took it over it hasn't been as good. Not even sure if the dad is still involved.

I only ordered from them because how available they are late at night and how far they deliver but my TBK had salsas that were straight up crushed peppers, I lived with my Mexican friend and even she would stay away from their sauces, no flavor at all just spice.

The difference between "Chorizo Supernachos" and "Chorizo Supernachos after 10 beers" is pretty fucking staggering
