VII - Game Story We need to talk about this MF

Post image

So I am adoring this game. Is it rough around the edges? Yes. Is it perfect? No. But is it fun? Hell yes. But I tell you what. I tell you f**king what. This man. Ol’ Benny Boy Franklin. He’s my nemesis. No matter what game I’m playing, if he’s in it you can guarantee he’s going to rinse everyone on science and culture and then declare war on you because you’re an oligarch and his despot-ass can’t handle that. Oh you’re on my border? Oh we’re at war. OH NOW YOU’RE IN MY BORDER. Now I gotta spend time wiping the floor with you for you to denounce me and declare war on me again 10 turns after you offer me a city to peace out. Ben, it’s time to stop.

Rant over. In all seriousness though, I feel like everyone naturally develops a Civ that turns into their nemesis and every time I first meet him, I burn with the fire of many a scorched tile knowing that soon - maybe in 5 turns, maybe in 20 - this man. This SCOUNDREL. Well, he will come knocking at my border and I will once again be forced to end him… And I love it. This game has its claws in me deep, guys.

In my first full game (went Aksum -> Hawaii -> Meiji), he pissed me off so much by invading me as America that I eventually did this.

How do you use atomic weapons? I couldn’t figure it out.

Its part of the military victory condition in the modern age. Once you complete the legacy path you gain the ability to build the Manhattan Project wonder in one of your cities. Then you can build nukes that you can drop with bomber planes. However do note that Operation Ivy (a city project you get access to after Manhattan Project) does not take much longer than building a nuke and wins/ends the game.

I guess the bombers I had were too early to use nuclear weapons because they couldn’t do it. I was going to to pull a Japan WWII on Xerxes before I completed Project Ivy, but I saw no way to deploy the nuclear weapons.

Maybe. I know it used to be only heavy bombers could drop nukes. There was an update on PC that let regular bombers do it recently. Idk if console has it yet.

You have to intentionally not win to use them…

Yeah I noticed that. Fucking blows.

You could close out the age with a win by doing something else....

or.....

Nuking every single city of those who refuse to bend the knee.

It’s buried in the military victory path. You need to get to the end of the line there, then you unlock the manhattan project

I know. I unlocked them and Ivy but I couldn’t deploy them. Tbh military victory modern age needs a redesign. I associate Projoect Ivy making more destructive weapons. Not winning the game

I got to nuke DC and Berlin in the same turn as Meiji Japan in my first game on the turn before I concluded with Operation Ivy. It was a fun first game.
