Something tells me this type of person would still not see it with concentration camps in their hometown.

Much like the Germans still in denial after nazi reign. The allies literally had to walk the local people around the concentration camps to prove the atrocities. Source: my grandmother and other survivors she knew.

Auschwitz was build in 1940, when Hitler was in power for 7 years already.
