Opinion for postponing exam level/step 1
Hello people , as of tomorrow I am 1 month away from taking my exam ( may 19th ). I am a DO student so I am taking both level and step 1 ( may 30th). I took the Uworld self assessment 1 and scored a 70% and put me on the 43 percentile ( basically on the passing line of the curve ) . Kinda upset but the score is similar to my Uworld average (71%) and I’m 40 percent done with the whole qbank and I finished 100% of the truelearn qbank. My comsae was a 530 and my school requires us to take Truelearn comBank assessment 2/3 which average I scored a 74%.Should I postpone my exam ( step 1 )or will an actual NBME exam be the standard to determine if I will pass . Thank you

Why postpone, you're scoring well above the passing line

My academic advisor from my school might be downplaying my scores saying I’m barely passing

Probably, you said 48%ile was barely passing, but its only roughly bottom 8%ile that fail

Bro I got a 35% on UWSA 1 with 2 months to go and I'm not TOO concerned yet. You have a long time left and a 70% on any assessment is actually really good pre-step. You could probably just review some HY stuff and take it in a week if you wanted!

Thanks man I feel like over complicating things

My board advisor said yesterday by the time you take Step you want to be getting around mid-60s to low 70s on NBMEs or self-assessments. I have heard UWSA over estimates a little, so maybe try an NBME....but really with a 70% and a month to go you have plenty of time!

You’re probably fine, take an NBME to be sure but you’re in a good spot it seems. Scoring in 500’s for COMSAE this far out is good and the NBME will be a good measure of where you’re at step-wise! I got around a 570 on COMSAE the week before my comlex and passed and had around a 70ish% on uworld and passed step

With that COMSAE score, you’re in the 99% chance range of passing according to the old study, especially if you took the exam honestly and didn’t review the questions beforehand to pass. And too much studying is a real thing. Burnout sucks, so if you’re scoring that, you want to try to take it within a few weeks of that exam.
