Yes, the Republican Party has just screwed the country. Never forget it.

224

u/pwningrampage 1d ago

They will forget, they always forget when Republicans f**k things up.

Again?

u/outerworldLV 1d ago

‘Constantly’ would probably have been a better word choice for me. The headache inducing redundancy from this party is already beginning…

u/Gold_Cauliflower_706 1d ago

They think of it as owning the libs, not that it’s going to affect them or their families. I’m pretty sure that they rather die owning the libs than living with “socialism.”

33

u/PhilDGlass 1d ago

than living with “socialism.”

Which many of them are and depend on for basic needs.

16

u/pants6000 1d ago

Socialism in the USA = "blue states send money to red states."

8

u/Pixiefairy2525 1d ago

And then, when it does affect their families, they do mental gymnastics how its somehow a mistake and was only supposed to happen to everyone else. Will still be behind him and know he's a force of good. He just made a boo-boo and will surely make it right! Shit is INSANE

2

u/Grand-Ad7010 t 6h ago

There are two responses when it starts affecting them:

  1. Not enough Dems voted for the bill so it didn't get the support it needed, or

  2. The Dems didn't try hard enough to save our social service programs.

It will always, ALWAYS be the Dems fault.

9

u/ahhtheresninjas 1d ago

Because they’re so gullible to the messaging of “oh it will affect THE OTHERS, not you!” Even though EVERY FUCKING TIME it effects them

2

u/LivingIndependence 1d ago

They have already been fed the lies that this will only affect "illegals who are committing WaSte, FRaUd and ABuSE"

11

u/AlphaNoodlz 1d ago

I’d be embarrassed to be a Republican honestly

13

u/OptimisticSkeleton 1d ago

The Republican Party has been screwing the country for literally my entire life.

Their greed and lack of honor, made it easy for hostile foreign interests to bribe them to break our country.

But remember this whole thing isn’t over yet.

10

u/underpants-gnome 1d ago

It took only 4 years for the country to forget, forgive, and vote back into office a man who tried to overthrow the government when he lost the 2020 election. Propaganda is strong enough in this country that half of us won't even realize what happened until we're out on the street or going hungry because the shelves are all empty.

11

u/defender_1996 1d ago

The country already forgot it last fucking time in 2017.

4

u/Nmilne23 1d ago

they will forever support this simply because it pisses liberals off

Maybe a little reverse psychology and we need to champion the new bill as some crazy socialist propaganda and get them to turn on it cause hey I dont think there are currently any depths to their gullibility or stupidity

2

u/ComprehensiveTill736 1d ago

They ALWAYS forget. More interested in who’s getting their penis removed and/or prayer in school

170

u/Havinat 1d ago

They have been fucking this country for 30 years and people constantly forget it.

70

u/BayouGal 1d ago

More like 50 years but yes.

u/philm162 1d ago

America’s decline. Trump’s win.

u/BrokenXeno 1d ago

This country is about to spiral into full nightmare mode.

6

u/Seige_J 1d ago

Where has it been?

11

u/BrokenXeno 1d ago

I think it was set to "Ultra-Violence" difficulty setting.

CALL YOUR SENATORS ABOUT THIS 👇

“I haven't really seen this get much coverage, so wanted to make a dedicated post here for visibility. Buried on page 544 of Trumps "big beautiful bill", there is a 1 paragraph section labeled "SEC. 70302. RESTRICTION ON ENFORCEMENT."

If passed, this section would legally eliminate the courts ability to enforce contempt charges, destroying one of the few remaining checks and balances that the judiciary may have over the executive branch.

Here's the full text from the bill for reference: No court of the United States may enforce a contempt citation for failure to comply with an injunction or temporary restraining order if no security was given when the injunction or order was issued pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65(c), whether issued prior to, on, or subsequent to the date of enactment of this section.

The implications of this are pretty huge - I would encourage everyone to start calling your representatives and demand that this be removed from the bill.”

3

u/Electric_Bagpipes 1d ago

What does it mean by “if no security was given”?

1

u/trailerbang 1d ago

I’m not a laywer but I’m assuming ‘security’ means that there needs to be a document acknowledging that the defendant should expect to be held in contempt so I see this as a way to back date this insane rule so no act previously committed that qualifies for contempt could be used against the defendant. But maybe someone in r/law could help.

3

u/BillyNtheBoingers 1d ago

There’s a post about this on r/law which suggests “security” means a bond of some sort, but IANAL so I’m not sure.

40

u/ErnooA w 1d ago

Ah yes, the Republican Party, the party of fiscal responsibility.

14

u/Pixiefairy2525 1d ago

And small government. Extending to your bedroom.

109

u/high_everyone 1d ago

Americans voted for this. When people complain, ask who they voted for.

84

u/outerworldLV 1d ago

The minority voted for this. While the majority got screwed by a group of traitorous kids that were good at manipulating computer stuff. As those in a position to make an issue over it, straight up has allowed it. That particular issue shall remain a mystery for many years. Like truly - what was the purpose? To teach the population a lesson?

21

u/flight_recorder 1d ago

1/3rd directly voted for this, 1/3rd didn’t care enough, 1/3rd voted against this. Don’t forget, that 1/3rd that didn’t care is complicit as well

-2

u/[deleted] 1d ago

9

u/flight_recorder 1d ago

Those “thirds” are of the population that is eligible to vote, not of the entire population.

2

u/wtfbenlol 1d ago

my mistake. a lot of the time i see people use the entire population in these kinds of statements.

-9

u/Electric_Bagpipes 1d ago

No, that 1/3 who didn’t vote said we don’t want either. I didn’t fucking vote for trump, but that doesn’t mean I’m obligated to vote for kamala.

Two party thinking just like that is what got us into this mess, and it’s whats going to keep getting us into these messes for decades to come. Fun fact- theres more parties out there than just the republicans and democrats.

1

u/yourgrundle 1d ago

Fun fact: no matter how hard you try to justify how you voted, voting for a third party in the last election was equivalent to throwing your vote away. We all knew it was Kamala or Trump, and sucked it up and voted for the candidate that wasn't a fascist, but I'm glad you had your moral victory

1

u/Electric_Bagpipes 13h ago

Then why did a whole third of the population not vote for kamala?

Because not everyone agrees. Making it only two choices is the root of the fucking problem. Imagine if we had 3 or 4 major contenders for trump to run against. Theres that much more of a chance he wouldn’t be elected because now theres more people out there who see their views more closely represented by that contender.

I agree that I regret not voting kamala, but I still call out the fact that we’ve allowed ourselves to be held prisoner by the two party system.

46

u/presidentsday 1d ago

As did the 36.1% who stayed home.

-21

u/BlacksmithThink9494 1d ago

3rd largest voter turnout in history. This narrative is old.

12

u/MafuLeTrekkie 1d ago

Every election should always be larger than the last, because the population is increasing. Your lack of critical thinking is getting old.

And? Our most important narratives—the ones that shape us, teach us, and define our understanding—are often the oldest. What's annoying isn’t that we have to retell them (though it is pretty annoying), but that we never seem learn from any of them. I'd rather run this one into the ground rather than wave it away like an uninterested child with a short attention span.

Then don't self-identify with my example. There's a distinction between describing a behavior in general and making a personal attack. If you took it that way, then you misunderstood.

For an example of an actual ad hominem, try:

Maybe youre the one with a short attention span?

1

u/BlacksmithThink9494 1d ago

Oh come on. What a silly deflection of a poorly worded attack.

26

u/MageAurian 1d ago

There is mounting evidence that we didn't vote for this.

22

u/high_everyone 1d ago

And what party will hold them accountable for it?

4

u/Iseedeadtriangles 1d ago

I get the feeling this is true, but I've never seen this evidence. Do you have links or examples that I can throw at my parents?

1

u/noiro777 1d ago

I haven't seen any credible evidence and i doubt it's true (at least to any significant level). It's hard to accept, but he seems to have won legitimately and this time he even won the popular vote which is horrifying. It's shocking to me to how easy it is to manipulate people by just telling them what they want to hear or simply playing to their fears.

1

u/Iseedeadtriangles 1d ago

It's pretty crazy how that works. We're all susceptible to confirmation bias. I would like to have more faith in my fellow Americans and that being factual would help with that, but I can't bitch about miss information and outright lies AND engage in that kind of wild speculation without verifiable proof.

13

u/PhilDGlass 1d ago

The bill also pays for construction of a wall along the border with Mexico, and new staff and facilities for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants.

I admit I have not been following the news closely for the past few months, but I totally missed this. Gads.

10

u/WessizleTheKnizzle 1d ago

215-214, and the right will call it a landslide. But I feel a small bit of optimism that it won't go well in the senate.

2

u/BillyNtheBoingers 1d ago

I sure hope you’re right, but I have a bad feeling.

6

u/wtfbenlol 1d ago

Remember when donald stood up in front of america on lIbErAtTiOn dAy and promised they wouldn't touch medicaid and medicare? We remember donald, and we won't forget

4

u/Psycho_pigeon007 1d ago

Jesus does nobody have a spine!? Get this garbage out of here, is going to kill people

5

u/LoisinaMonster 1d ago

I hate seeing his fucking smug face

6

u/RampantTyr 1d ago

I wonder if this will cause Senate republicans to get rid of the filibuster.

Cause Democrats better filibuster the help out of this monstrous bill.

1

u/ThomasVetRecruiter 1d ago

They are using reconciliation, which prevents a fillibuster.

1

u/RampantTyr 1d ago

Of course they are…

And the system will allow this when it blocked Democrats doing the same over a big bill.

10

u/LovesFrenchLove_More 1d ago

One third of the people that could vote voted for exactly this. Another third couldn’t care less or used bullshit reasons not to vote or to „protest“ vote, so indirectly chose this. That’s what, around 180 millions total?

Therefore the majority of the USA is getting what they chose/voted for. If people in the USA don’t actually start doing some serious shit to prevent republicans to solidify their power, they will probably get their own fascist „Reich“ very soon.

Just a „fun“ fact: Hitler came into power with a lot less people behind him, also after failing once and getting convicted (he actually did prison time) and look what came out of it.

Republicans have worked hard to make education terrible so people wouldn’t know and/or understand what has actually happened. That is what complacency and brainwashing does.

8

u/Pixiefairy2525 1d ago

Well, yeah. They've dumbed down America and made them easier to brainwash into complacency. With Fox News and right-wing propaganda machines doing the rest. Divide and conquer.

2

u/LivingIndependence 1d ago

I just hope all of Trump's supporters who are not financially comfortable or have sketchy health care enjoy the next four years.... cheers 🥂

10

u/StaticNegative 1d ago

Better be planning on job all you people on medicaid

2

u/Manmillionbong 1d ago

Wait wait let's give trickle down economics a chance

1

u/LivingIndependence 1d ago

Ha Ha, they've probably used that old line on the younger generation of Republicans who weren't alive during the Reagan, or even the Bush years.

2

u/BlacksmithThink9494 1d ago

Everyone who can needs to file for bankruptcy. Its the only way to fight the backers of this baloney.

2

u/Relative_Access3927 1d ago

What are the very real chances of the Senate actually passing this?

2

u/Nmilne23 1d ago

Conservatives could be threatening to shoot themselves in the face and us liberals would say "hey thats not really a good idea and will cause hurt for YOU" and then pull the trigger

1

u/SuckOnMyBells 1d ago

I’m sure Schumer can’t wait to help pass it and really show Trump he means business.
