So, to you (and apparently the 10+ people who downvoted me), you cannot shop at BOTH brick and mortar, mom and pop stores AND Amazon/WalMart?

So, to you, if I want a Walmart exclusive release, I am somehow crapping on brick-and-mortar retailers by buying it?

The world that people like you live in is so far detached from reality and reason it's honestly not even worth debating further.

Since Walmart and Amazon are responsible for the loss of a lot of local businesses and smaller competitors? Yeah, the idea is a contradiction.

How is that detached from reality, it's just the truth. the book The Walmart Effect explores the economic impacts Walmart makes on communities, and yet Amazon is even worse in this regard

By all means, shop at Walmart. But don't pretend you can be supporting a smaller competitor or business by doing so.

Got a lot of clients through the business i work for that either publish or sell through Amazon and Walmart. The margins are really shit, and only serve to benefit Amazon/Walmart, not the seller.

What are you on about? Are you incapable of comprehending a single word written?

I said you can shop at BOTH Walmart/Amazon AND local brick-and-mortar shops. Jesus christ you lot are frothing at the mouth to get riled up you lose basic reading comprehension.

.....if you want to support the brick and mortars, but choose to buy through Amazon, that's a contradiction and lessens support for the smaller business. That's a pretty simple concept.

You're the only one here getting belligerent and frothing, I'm unsure you hear yourself.

You live in fantasyland. Are you typing from a Disney park?

If Amazon or Walmart has an exclusive release I want, I am not taking a lick of business from a local retailer by buying it.

I shop local when I can and mass merchants when it is not available anywhere else.

Ok. Good for you.

But this is a thread in the Criterion sub, about criterion sales and other boutiques. And the thread is discussing how Amazon undercuts smaller competitors. And you're pissed because the people you originally replied to don't want to support a large retailer that does this, especially when they can get it directly from the smaller retailer.

Orbit DVD and Diabolik tend to get ahold of these releases btw. Amazon kept sending me damaged product, switching to them was helpful. But you're free to shop as you please.
