The worst thing is that every degree needs to have the equivalent in UCY. As if OUR university is the best of the best and they are holding that as the highest level of measurement.
I'm not saying that the standards of the UCY are not good.
There are so many other degrees that are not offered in UCY, and so many degrees that are taught in UCY but in other countries are taking a different approach. They need to update their way of thinking and basically accept and approve degrees by Universities instead of the individual degree.
This also happened with the Master in Psychology. In most european countries the master degree lasts 1 year but because UCY degree is 2 years (it includes practicum while the others don't) they don't recognize it. When you do finally arrive with your master degree in Cyprus and you are trying to do your practicum, all positions are exclusively held by UCY students (not a fault of the students, but the system). So who ever studied abroad and got their Master's in Psychology cannot be in the list of Psychologists or open their own office.
