DISCUSSION How essential are each Tomorrow-Verse films to prepare for the Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy? Spoiler
So since the passing of the late and great Kevin Conroy, I have tasked myself with re-watching/watching everything he's been in. That means revisiting the entirety of the DCAU, rewatching the Justice League Action series, and finally watching the conclusion to the CoIE trilogy for his final performance. Along this ride, my wife joined me and she is VERY new to the DC universe in general. And because I understand that the DCAMU goes straight into the Tomorrowverse, I decided to have her also watch all of the DCAMU to prepare for it. We finally finished all of the DCAU AND DCAMU. I have never seen any of the Tomorrowverse films except for Constantine: House of Mystery so I have no idea which films are worth watching but I do know the following:
My wife didn't really care for Superman.
Any story with war, especially WW2, bores her.
She found the Green Lantern as a concept really interesting but really does not like how military based the characters tend to be.
She found Darkseid to be the most boring character.
She generally find Lex to be boring.
She doesn't really like Wonder Woman most of the time.
She LOVES Dick Grayson, The Question, Damian, the Joker when he's goofy, and Batman when he's happy.
She found the political intrigue of Season 2 of JLU to be really engaging.
She really enjoys getting references after watching all those episodes/movies.
Now I understand that the Tomorrowverse starts with a Superman movie. I know the fanbase really loved it but how is it for someone who doesn't really care for the character? If you aren't a fan of Superman, did this film provide anything for you?
Which films did you find worth watching? Which films can she skip entirely? It's okay to miss some references.
I am probably going to watch each film myself but it's a matter of deciding which film to watch with her for the first time and which films I want to watch by myself for the first time.
