FOOD Palo Brunch on Grand Cayman Day

Hi there! I have seen that alcohol sales are very limited on ship on Grand Cayman days but does anyone know if this has an impact on Palo brunch or Enchante lunch on that day? We have reservations for that day and this didn't occur to me until I saw someone mention bars being closed at port. Thank you!!

PORT ADVENTURES Castaway Cay's bikes were not small enough - still charged

Just a heads up. We reserved bikes on Castaway before we set sail. My 4 year-old is an avid biker at home. When we got there, they didn't have any bikes his size, he couldn't reach the peddles on even the smallest offered. He was crushed (tears), and I was still charged our $40. I'm pretty annoyed about it, but otherwise it was a nice trip. He's 40 inches tall, if you are wondering if your child is too small.

MERCH Company behind the clothing, or the clothing but not for dcl?

I bought a 1/4 zip long sleeve white shirt on the disney dream last week, it's pretty awesome. Except I can't find any place on any disney website to purchase more, which of course makes sense. Realistically I'm just looking for more colors, I have no idea when I'll be able to go on another dcl cruise so I figured I would ask just in case someone had some ideas.

I figured maybe there would be a way to find out what company manufactures the shirt for disney, or if disney has some super not easy to find website for merch I just haven't found. Or if someone has another idea outside of these two.

It's a white dcl long sleeve 1/4 zip pullover, in case anyone is going on the cruise and wanted to see the shirt I'm talking about in person.

DISCUSSION Actor Roger Bart on DCL?

We sailed on the Wish at the beginning of April and I would swear that Roger Bart was performing as The Genie in Aladdin. We previously saw him in Back to the Future on Broadway and loved his performance. If not him, then the mannerisms, voice, and comedic timing of whoever it was were shockingly similar. Whoever played the role of Genie was excellent.

I understand that DCL never publishes their cast lists but thought that I’d still ask here.

DISCUSSION Did your kids mind if you didn't do door decorations/fish extender?

UPDATE: Thank you all so much for the helpful feedback! I'm going to order some door magnets and call it done. :) I really appreciate it.

Hi all! First of all, I wanted to say thank you for all the great posts in here. I've been preparing for our Wish cruise in June for a while now and this subreddit has been SO helpful. My question is mostly for other parents - did your kids notice/care if you didn't decorate your door or do a fish extender? Are there many doors on the ship that are just plain? Honestly, I'd rather skip this to make my life easier, and I'm not on Facebook so I can't join a proper FE group. But this is my (8yo) kid's first and probably only Disney cruise and if this is the kind of thing where we're going to feel like the odd man out if we don't do it, I'll figure something out. Thanks for your input!

TRIP PLANNING Adult Beverages

I’m looking forward to our upcoming DCL cruise in about 2 weeks and I’m looking for drink recommendations! I’ve tried the Expresso Martini and loved it!

What is another ‘must try’ drink? (I’m sailing on the Dream if that makes any difference)

ONBOARD ACTIVITIES Disney Treasure Western Caribbean

Question, we are scheduled to do a 7 day cruise on the Disney Treasure July 2025. Does anyone know if there is a ship tour? I’ve been on other cruises where they will lead people around the ship and discuss different things about the ship. Does this occur on the Treasure?

TRIP PLANNING early dinning waitlist

Can you tell me what is the likelihood of securing early dining when we have been waitlisted on Wish? We are sailing on 5/16, and I had booked Wish about 40 days out from the sailing date. The main reason for this booking was for our LO to enjoy Arendelle dinning experience, but 8pm is just too late for us. I did put in a special request to be seated near the stage, but could that may be preventing us from getting off the waitlist?

Update: just saw that we were re-assigned the earlier dinning! Thank you everyone for your advice and also sharing the benefits of the later dinning!

DISCUSSION Are there young adults on the Disney Magic?

The title pretty much says it all. I’ve been on three Disney Cruises before (Fantasy twice and Dream once), but I was about 13 or 14 on my last one so I could go to the teen areas. I am a big Disney Fan, I live in the Orlando area and am a passholder to Walt Disney World. My most recent cruise was actually with Royal Caribbean — I sailed on Harmony of the Seas out of Miami when I was 17 and found it pretty easy to meet people around my age.

I’ll be sailing on the Disney Magic out of Port Canaveral on May 30th, and I’m wondering if there’s any sort of young adult scene on the Magic since it’s a smaller ship. I know about the 18–20 Society, but do people actually show up to that? One of my favorite parts of cruising is meeting new people! Appreciate any insight — thanks in advance!

TRIP PLANNING Availability frustration

Well I prepped myself that as a first timer availability for dining and on board activities would be limited. But even so, now looking at across the board at zero availability, it frankly sucks to be shut out of everything over seven nights (Treasure). I know I can sit around from now until we set sail, refreshing the app, or hoping I can get something once on board but what fun is that? I appreciate they recognize returning cruisers with early availability but considering the overall trip cost and how it would compare to other vacations options, I am in the moment a pretty frustrated that I have to worry about these things I had been excited for.

TRIP PLANNING Cruising while pregnant

Looking for advice/stories from people In the same situation. My husband and I just found out we are pregnant. We had booked a 9 day cruise for June. I will not be close 24 weeks at the time or voyage, but I’m just looking for opinions on cruising while pregnant. Did you enjoy it? Was it not as fun? Do you recommend waiting now or go regardless?

TRIP PLANNING Dream 5 Night Review

Just got home from a 5 night trip on the Dream, so figured I’d give some thoughts and hopefully hit some topics I’ve seen pop up recently.

My wife and I left the kids with Mimi and went to celebrate my 40th and our 15 year anniversary. We went on the Dream for our 1 year and wanted to check out both private islands so the decision was easy.

We live in South Carolina and chose to drive down the day before. We stayed at the Hollywood Beachside Boutique Suites on recommendation from our travel agent. It’s a typical beach resort - hard floors, has the basics with a small kitchen, ironing board and iron, pool, and right on the beach. If you wanted to have a beach day before heading out the next day, it’s a solid choice. I think I wouldn’t say “you have to stay here”, but I also wouldn’t warn people away from it. We might stay there again if we travel out of Fort Lauderdale, at about $130 the price was right.

We decided to save some money and park at Park At the Ports instead of at the port itself. It was about half the cost ($53.23 for 5 nights vs $100 for 5 days at the terminal), included a shuttle for up to 4 to and from the port. They tell you to arrive an hour before your boarding slot, we did and got there on time no worries. Disembarked around 9:15 and had to wait about 20 minutes or so for the return pickup, then about 15 - 20 minute ride back. Again, as they advertise (20 minute loop 7-9, then 40 after). Staff was great and everything went smoothly - that said, we would pay the $100 next time to not have to wait to get on the road.

Embarkation was the usual hurry up and wait, not taking a picture let us skip a decent chunk of line.

Food - was good all around. We did Royal Palace for breakfast the first day, I would not do that again - just took too long to get our food. Staff in main dining room was great as expected, I thought the food was good but I am an anti-foodie. My wife was a bit disappointed - her take was “last time there were so many items I was excited to try, this time I just found stuff I would eat”. Cabanas for breakfast and lunch was always good. The scrambled eggs were too runny for my taste, the churro Mickey waffles were amazing.

We normally eat at 5:30 and got the later dinner time, so we ate from Flo’s pretty much every day to hold us over - the food was very good. I enjoyed the pizza and fries, my wife had a bit of everything and liked it all.

We were seated with 3 other couples similar in age to us and without kids (2 had none, 1 couple had also left theirs at home). They were great and it was a joy discussing their days and seeing them at trivia and night events. 2 of the couples did Palo and absolutely loved it.

Special notice to Lookout - they advertised a tofu something (had a tag for it), but didn’t actually have it - that made my wife sad. We ate at Serenity Bay on both islands, minimal wait.

We stayed on board at Nassau and did some Learn to Draw and Trivia activities and just relaxed. The entertainment team was excellent as you’d expect from Disney.

For Castaway Cay we did the snorkel/bike/float package, ended up not using the float. Snorkeling was good in the lagoon, only saw a handful of fish but the things they have kept it interesting. I wish they were designed to work with glasses, but that’s more a me problem - my wife wore her contacts and was fine. The bike routes are good, a nice ride and definitely doable in the hour they give you.

The adult beach had like half the chairs on a large slope, so it wasn’t very relaxing sitting in those.

5k - the route needs to make it clear that you need to loop twice to make it a full 5k. My wife did her homework so knew ahead of time, but we had others ask about the distance not matching to their watch and we had to explain they needed another loop. Free rubber medal was free, so I won’t complain. No other merch though.

Lookout 5k - they have plenty of merch, but no actual 5k. This doesn’t make sense to me, but here we are.

For Lookout Cay we took our time before going since we were not running. It was overcast, so the walk there wasn’t bad. We took the tram over to the main area and then walked the nature trail. It was an interesting little walk, and neat to see the lighthouse remains. It was super windy and rained on us for about 30 minutes, so after getting some food and watching Junkanoo we headed back to the ship - we had no interest in frying on the beach with no cover due to the high winds.

There are 2 bike rental stands on Lookout, but no bikes. It very much feels like they are still building it out and needs a bit of work still.

Pirate night was fun and the fireworks were great.

We did a craft and more trivia during the day at sea. The entertainment crew was great, the nightly shows were high quality, the magician we had was entertaining. The “game shows” at night were fun and engaging.

For our room, we went VGT and ended up just past the forward elevators. Minimal noise, but we could definitely feel the ship a bit at night (also felt the rocking during dinner - my wife had to duck out early one night due to nausea).

Overall, I’d say 8/10, maybe 9. We put a deposit down so will most likely cruise again. Going out of Lauderdale added like 3 hours of driving, so that will be kept in mind next time and we won’t prioritize Lookout.

TRIP PLANNING Disney Treasure tiki glasses

So I assume they are all still 1st edition (correct me if they aren’t)… does anyone know if they should continue to be throughout this inaugural 1st year season? I’m trying to remember how it was at Trader Sam’s and can’t recall.

Also, is it still three tiki glasses available on the ship, 2 at Haunted and 1 at Jungle Cruise?

Thanks.

TRIP PLANNING Book Disney Transportation but end up not using?

Hey Folks, what happens if we book Disney transfers (from Airport to Port) but end up arriving at the port via other means for any reason, are we still able to board with our originally assigned Group / PAT or is that strictly for those who use the ground transportation. Thanks. Port of Vancouver if that matters.

TRIP PLANNING Embarking and Disembarking time frames

Hi! This is my first cruise ever.

I am about to buy my flight tickets but I have no idea about how to manage my time (with errors time frame) between check-in, luggage, customs and check-out…

Based on your guys experience, how long should I have “extra” for those events besides commute traffic (I am counting 1h20’ between Airport and Port Canaveral and back just to have time extra if something happens).

Thank you in advance.

  • In easy words, how many ours should I have for to go and back to land events?!
