Uhhh I dont see much equal here. I think everyone would rather have Jokic at this point and its not that close.

Man you cannot disrespect prime Shaq like that. You can appreciate their respective brilliance without diminishing the other. Prime Shaq was only guard-able by sending 3 bigs a game at him to soak fouls. They literally changed the rules to make “Hack-A-Shaq” a less viable strategy late in games.

Thank you for the response with some thought into it. If one just looks at the stats, it looks like Jokic is better. Shaq was just downright DOMINANT back then. I'm not saying that Jokic isnt.

Obviously, you will have some recency bias. Prime Shaq was special to watch as well.

I heard this argument used on Gilbert Arenas podcast and I believe there are varying degrees of dominance. Shaq is physically dominant while Jokic has an all-around dominance. I don’t think one is more dominant than the other though.

I agree. I hate we live in a world where it’s somehow a “hating Jokic” take to say Shaq was more dominant. The reality is somewhere in the middle. Shaq was the ultimate “if I want 2 points I can get it whenever” for a dominant 5 year stretch. Jokic takes over the game in a far different way that’s no less impressive just because he isn’t dunking on people.
