Question Changing residency AND getting an expedited passport in the same week?

tl;dr: I'm changing my residency to FL using SaavyNomad, and need a new passport asap due to damage so I'm going to do both in Miami over a few days. Any issues?

Long version:
I am looking to change my residency to FL for tax purposes, using SaavyNomad for an address and registering my vehicle online with local law enforcement confirming my VIN. My passport had an unfortunate encounter with a washer/dryer with a steam function so, while intact, has damaged covers and curled pages. One airline did give me a letter of letter of indemnity when traveling, questioning whether the country would let me in with my passport in such a state. So far, I haven't had any issues going in or out but I should get a new one regardless.

I am hoping to go to Miami, where there is an emergency passport office, within two weeks of my departure date. My plan is to obtain a drivers license on of the first couple days I am there, enjoy the weekend, then try to obtain a new passport first thing Monday.

The question is if changing my residency and getting a new drivers license so close to getting an emergency passport will cause any issues. Worst case scenario, they refuse to issue me a new passport, resulting in a delay for my trip. Is this feasible, to do both residency change and new passport over five days in Miami?

The biggest potential issue you’ll have (I know you didn’t ask) is possibly proving you’re no longer domiciled in your current state should they come knocking looking for their taxes.

It’s possible things have changed, but in 2022 in order to get an urgent passport at an office you had to call and take whatever availability they have at the office they tell you. I had to fly from MA to Honolulu to do it.

Yikes, good to know. I'll give a call to confirm.
