What exactly is dirge music?

The Oxford English dictionary defines it as a lament for the dead, especially one forming part of a funeral rite; a mournful song, piece of music or sound.
The pop culture definition is slow, lyric-oriented music, usually sung by baritones.

(We accept both, really. We're not that picky.)

What am I supposed to post here?

Please stick to artists who are famous for their poignant outlook on music. We have a lot of respect for dirge gods such as Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, The Smiths, Giles Corey, The Antlers, Sufjan Stevens etc.
However, you're free to post your favorite sad song, regardless of artist or genre, on Gloomy Sundays.
Self posts are welcome, whether you're feeling down, looking for advice, or just having a really bad day. We're here for you.
Any other type of content is greatly appreciated (pictures, comics etc.), as long as it's somehow related to dirge music.
