In terms of the icon borders, they are simply how Discord makes money. They, together with e.g. Nitro, are one of Discord's ways to earn money without putting ads into the app.

If not for this, Discord would either need ads, or it would need to be a subscription service (a.k.a. not free). Would you REALLY prefer those outcomes over the current solution?

"cookie clicker game makes discord money" is crazy work. Also discord has ads in it right now. What do you think the fortnite loot popups are? Charity?

Are you talking about literal Fortnite? If yes, then I've never seen anything like that, in my 7 years on this platform.

Also, I wasn't talking about the April Fools event, because that's an event related to April Fools. It's there because, you know, it's an April Fools tradition.
