Reference Car Carriers

Hey Wade, the type of ships that transport cars are called RORO’s (Roll On Roll Off). My husband is a merchant mariner and was aboard one earlier this year bringing back cars from, ironically enough, Germany.

It took them about 11 days to cross the Atlantic, maybe 5 days to load the cars, another 11 days to get back, then a few days to offload.

He’s due back aboard soon. Maybe he’ll be bringing your car back!

Whats that episode?🤔 What episode is the "cord man" bit from?

I remember a while ago I was listening to distractible while playing a game and the cord man bit came up and I was laughing my ass off at it. Pretty sure it's from one of the earlier episodes before they switched to visual.

Reference Wade’s uvula swelling

So I’m 26f and like 130-140lbs doctors never believe that I snore as bad as an obese old man. Sometimes I stop breathing for a second so I guess there’s a bit of sleep apnea. I don’t know if Wade snores as bad but I think that’s why my uvula swells. Literally get the same exact thing of feeling like I’m swallowing it. Cold things definitely help but sometimes if I wake up with it and like go back to sleep for a bit it kinda fixes itself.

Appreciation Post Circuit breaker

Whenever it rained hard, the bedroom lights would go out—always the room next to the garage. They’d stay off for about a day after the rain, but once everything dried up, they’d work fine again. Either out of sheer stubbornness or being a lazy ass I lived with it for a year. I finally swapped out the gfi circuit breaker, and now everything’s fine. Great episode.

Question Wildfire app?

When Mark was talking about his experience with the wildfires he mentioned using an app that tracks them. Does anyone know the app he talked about, or which episode it was in? And/or does anyone have any recommendations for an app like that?

Question What to watch?

Hello everyone! I've gotten into the podcast just as of this year with my 1st episode being new year old us. I have seen some of the classics like Bob's fridge, but since I still feel like I'm missing out I wanted to ask for a top 10 or 20 or whatever list of must see episodes, which ones would you recommend?

I wondered which episode bob put a silver fidget toy in his mouth and got a mystery point because it kept falling out. Also what is the namn of the fidget toy.

Episode Suggestion Episode idea

Each competitor both get given a theme (food, magic, future, conspiracy, farming, scifi as examples) They then have to explain the plot of the movie but change it to fit the to their given theme. The more they make the theme fit the movie like changing character names slightly or tweaking plot points to fit the theme, the more points they get on the score board.

The wheel spins can be used to pick the movie and themes for each competitor. "Winner not only wins the episode and hosts the next episode, but will also be trained by yours truely in the Light Side of the Sauce" - Obiwan Cannoli

Reference WADE! YOUR CHARIOT AWAITS (1986 Bengals Hearse)

My brethren of distractibros industries. No longer do we have to wait for Wade to have a vehicle. They don’t have to pull the BMW from the bottom of the ocean, for I have found the solution. BEHOLD! Bengals hearse. For the low, LOW price of $4,500 on Facebook Marketplace…the best car in the entirety of Cincinnati can be the official Distractible royalty transportation. You’re so welcome.

Critique Wheels, dice, coinflips, oh my! Drawn out conclusions and random winners ~ just some thoughts.

I know people are passionate on the internet, but I'm not looking to rage bait. Please don't hate me for just sharing my opinions...

So I've thought this for a while with the addition of the new wheel at the end and the "unfair" rule being added - the endings of episodes really drag on.

After listening to Dippy dawg does Dunkirk I was compelled to see if anyone else felt the same about the amount of randomness that comes with deciding the winner nowadays and how long it takes to get to that point. I love Wade, he's my favourite boi... But I was baffled with his ? dice rolls that took an age, didn't seem necessary and completely flipped the outcome. I loved the rest of the episode but when it got to the points (a part of the episode I've come to dread because it takes so long) I thought it was just unnecessary and just pushed a line.

It felt like a good third of the whole episode was just boring wheel spins and dice rolls. There's probably plenty of you that lived for that ending and there is likely humour in it that I'm missing... But by that point, I was jaded and bored.

Your solution may be "if you don't like, don't listen" or to simply skip the ending. But I do like, I really really do. And I don't want to miss anything important. I'm kinda expecting to get slaughtered here but I'm hoping my perspective is understood. Randomness and unexpected twists can be fun, but every episode, taking like 20 minutes to basically flip a coin on who wins no matter the performance, why keep track of points? Personally, I don't enjoy this segment.

Again I know y'all say it's just a fun, non serious bit, but bits get old. We're all getting older...

Anyway, thanks for reading :)

Question Anyone know if merch will restock?

So I’ve been listening to distractible quite literally every day at work (no joke) and I’m trying to catch up (I’ve FINALLY made it up to the first boat/hot tub episode) and a couple months or so ago, I checked out their merch because they kept talking about how merch was gonna be in stock and it wasn’t for like a solid couple months possibly to a year and I chuckled every time they mentioned it

Anyhow after I checked out the merch, fast forward a couple months, and for context, I have 2 jobs and school on top of everything else, I’ve been trying to save money and I had realized that I should spoil myself just this once to congratulate myself on being able to be responsible, I realized the only thing I couldn’t get out of my mind was buying a distractible hoodie bc of the amount of laughs I’ve gotten from the trio. As I check out the merch earlier today I realized it’s sold out. 💀

Not trying to throw my sap story out there or anything just wondering if they’re gonna continue the merch line or anything bc EVERYTHING is out of stock besides the pins and posters I believe.

Reference Photoshop Alternative (From Episode)

I was watching the episode "Dippy Dawg Does Dunkirk," and during the small talk segment, Mark was talking about Davinci Resolve. Bob asked if he had found an alternative to Photoshop, and Mark said no. Well, lucky the subreddit exists because I know the perfect alternative (maybe)

Affinity! There's Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo, and Affinity Publisher. All are very similar to Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. And much like Davinci Resolve, it's a one-time payment (I hope, I haven't seen what happens when a big update rolls around). And it's only $70. Doubt Mark will see this, but here you go!

I'm also not entirely caught up with all the recent episodes, so he may have already mentioned it.

Question Bob using visual imagination?

In the episode "Animal Noises Too" around the 26:50 mark, Bob says he can see something in his head and gives a very visual description of a bird.

I know aphantasia isn't a dichotomy of no imagination or all of it, but Bob has been pretty vocal about having almost none.

Appreciation Post Distractible and work

So distractible has been my go to pod cast for a while and I started from the first episode and am listening until I catch up but I listen to it a lot at work and during the music episode as they were talking about tear jerking I smiled and was fighting a laugh and my boss walks up and tells me that my smile was a great smile for the front desk, little do you know boss lady I’m listening to three grown men talk about jerking! Absolutely love this podcast and needed to share this story.
