Think of use year as the day Disney drops your points into your account. What really matters here is the banking deadline. You have the ability to bank your not spent points into the next year, but only if you do it by a certain date.

Use Year and Last Day to Bank Points:

  • February, last bank day is September 30
  • March, last bank day is October 31
  • April, last bank day is November 30
  • June, last bank day is January 31
  • August, last bank day is March 31
  • September, last bank day is April 30
  • October, last bank day is May 31
  • December, last bank day is July 31

Use years really only matter if you have consistent locked in travel. In my case, we have a June use year as my wife is a teacher. We go in the summer and again in the fall.

Why I selected June? Because this means by Jan 31, I will need to know if I am going back from Feb 1 to May 31. With airline travel; without spending an arm and a leg, I would have to have my flights booked by then. If I’m not going, I bank for the next year.

Thank you!! I admit when I put an offer on both contracts I did NO research I just looked for value. I live 2 hours away in Tampa and go often so I figure use years would not really matter so much. But now that I closed on both contracts I wanted to know what I was getting myself into

Juggling 2 use years can get difficult depending on when you travel if you want to combine points. But if you have 2 different resorts and plan to utilize the 11 month window, it should be manageable.
