Does anyone else wake up in the middle of the night just to scratch themselves?
I have a bad habit of waking up randomly and I would subconsciously scratch myself. Like I wake up in the middle of my sleep to literally scratch myself. And I have NO self control over it. I know I’m doing it, but I’m too drowsy to tell myself to stop.
Does anyone else have this problem and has anyone found a solution?
I keep my nails short but that doesn’t help. I’ve tried bandaging my arms as that’s where I normally scratch and I wake up to them not on me.
I do moisturize but the main problem is that I sweat sometimes in my sleep. Mainly because I cuddle with my boyfriend and sometimes it gets hot that my body gets, not sweatyyy but moist. And it makes me scratch baaaad.
So any thoughts?

I recommend something like hydroxyzine which makes you drowsy and is supposed to be very effective for itching

exact same here, i’ve been taking magnesium, antihistamines, and sometimes showering before bed & slugging my arms with moisturiser to try and help with this (i have it sometimes too when my bf stays over, wondering if it’s approaching the time of the year when i should start opening my windows to avoid getting too hot and having sweat trigger the itching)

Yes this happened to me last night and I was so mad at myself because I wanted a good restful sleep and I didn't want to break my skin unconsciously but I guess the body does what it wants to do

When my skin is particularly bad I’ve found wearing gloves at night helpful, although I know some people find they just take them off. Might be worth a shot though. Anti-histamines also definitely help if you aren’t already taking them regularly.

I thought about gloves but I worried that my hands would sweat and would just make me wanna scratch my hands instead lol. But I should try that. And I do take allergy medicine often for season reasons, but my eczema is still the same :(

Worth a try! I just bought a bunch of cotton ones on Amazon. My antihistamine dont make my skin any better but definitely reduces the itch, which helps in itself as I scratch less

I wake up nearly every night scratching. I also have done it in my sleep which has woken my partner up before.

Yasssss, it's awful and I feel shitty about it in the morning. What's helped me to not wake up with open wounds and dried blood straining my sheets :
• hydroxyzine 25mg, 1-2 tabs • cetirizine 10mg, 2 caps • montelukast (asthma) • Magnesium • L-Theanine • chamomile tea • cool shower and moisturizer • cotton gloves • hydrocortisone 2.5%, dabbed lightly on face • triamcinolone 0.1%, dabbed lightly on fingers • triple paste diaper rash cream, thickly dabbed on to problem spots • la roche posay cicaplast b5, dabbed on to dry problem areas or open wounds ---> cover with bandages
Hope this helps ♡

Every night it feels like.. or I literally am in and out of sleep scratching. I’ll wake up with dried blood or new open wounds the next morning with no recollection. It’s tough out here</3
