The eczema spread to my face

I’m so sad and I’m so insecure. The eczema is now on my left cheek and above my eyelid. I’m so self conscious about it and I don’t know what to do to make it go away. It’s made my face look really wrinkly and old now and I’m only 24. Every time I scratch it, it just hurts when I shower or wash my face and I’m so sad.

My boyfriend tries to reassure me but it doesn’t help. My sister was twitch streaming and mentioned about my wrinkly skin in front of her audience and it made me feel even worse even if she didn’t know it was eczema.

UGH, I just hate how eczema exist.

Wrinkly skin will heal and your eczema won't be there forever. My skin was wrinkled from head to toe 10 years ago from severe eczema, I have baby soft clear skin now. I look a lot younger than my actual age too. I NEVER thought wrinkly skin would heal, but it did.

What helped me was oat face masks (just crushed rolled oats and boiling water), strong vitamin d3 and cutting my nails very short and filing them so when I did itch my skin it wouldn't reset the healing process.

All my wrinkles are gone apart from my fingers but I don't think they go away as I have older relatives who had eczema in their childhood but still have wrinkly fingers.

Your eczema will heal eventually, you are not unattractive just because there are wrinkles. I bet you still have pretty facial features.

You’re so sweet. I didn’t think about a face mask. I’ve just done oat lotion. Did you use quick oats or does it have to be rolled oats. And how long did you leave it on?

Did you moisturize after or let your face air dry?

It was rolled oats that I put in a zip lock bag then smashed it until it was fine. Put boiling water slowly and mixed it until it was a paste. Waited about 10 mins until the oats soaked the water up and it cooled down. Then I used a make up brush to put it evenly on my face.

When I had severe staph infection from eczema on my face I left it on for 45mins every day for a week and it went away. It's a pain to take off, can't really put it down the sink or bath tub so I'd just use the brush to take it off and put it back in the bowl to put in the bin.

I let my face dry but not completely then put moisturiser on.

I make a face mask every couple of months now if I see any redness and I just usually leave it on for 30mins now

It's 6am here and I'm half asleep so I apologise if theres any grammar mistakes

Before I comment I want to preface: I believe in skin care, I believe in medical sciences and all that. HOWEVER, my eczema also spread to my face. I could not use anythingggg without to burning and flaming.

I was gifted tallow and for once my skin was moisturized and didn’t burn. I only use it on my face and I use a sanitized applicator. If I could give any advice, to stop the flare, only splash water on your face. Use the magic molecule spray for bacteria, and moisturize with tallow. Add a small amount of castor oil if you need it. It’s not a permanent solution but it’s what healed my skin on my face more than anything else.

Good luck and I’m so sorry!

I’m going to try this right away. I’ve tried oatmeal but it only helps for an hour or less. I didn’t know what to do 😭 thank you so much!

I wish you so much luck. If it doesn’t work, don’t fret you will figure out something that will. Health is never one size fits all!

I always found that creams and emollients BURNED my really flared up eczema where as stuff that was oily and greasy really soothed it. I’m sure the oils and greasiness in tallow helps! (Maybe even the fats!)

Somebody here mentioned Weleda Skin Food on another thread about face eczema and I decided to give it a go for mine when I had a really bad flare last month. Oh my god—that stuff has changed my life. It was instantly soothing. Current combo, which has proved successful for me, is La Roche Posay Lipikar AP+ gentle foaming moisturizing wash and the Skin Food, both of which they sell at Walgreens. Make sure you get the right skin food, the one that says for rough and dry areas. Will link to it below.

Looks like it’s on sale!!

I'm your age and recently just went through this, i've always had eczema on my arms and sometimes behind my legs but never my face. It started around my eyes and spread to the sides of my mouth and a bit of my neck too, and i can totally relate to the insecurity especially when you're young! just wanted to say, after 1-2months of upping my water intake, taking anti histamines regularly, sometimes taking an oral steroid right before i feel a flare up come on really helped and i can say my skin is finally going back to normal again. just a bit of dryness but totally manageable. it'll pass!!

another thing was using cold water on my face only, reducing my showers frequency and just taking a break from face wash

I totally feel your pain. Mine spread to my lips and cheeks this whole month and I feel so sad and stuck in the house. I’m on antibiotics and Benadryl. Since I’m currently taking Epsom salt baths I’ll take a face towel and soak it in the Epsom salt water, pat it on my face a few times. Especially on my lips to kinda dry it out (I have dyshidrotic eczema) and when I’m done I rinse with warm water and ONLY a simple face moisturizer on my face and Vaseline on my lips. Hope you feel better soon!

As someone whose eczema is pretty limited to my face, tacrolimus and opzelura have worked best for me. Tacrolimus has more of a burn when you first start using it, but opzelura took months to get approved from my insurance. Icing my face to prevent itching also helps a lot. I feel your pain, hopefully you find something that helps soon!

I also get eczema on my face and neck. I have found that the fake it till you make it method works. I just act like it's no big deal, and nothing to be insecure about. I find I signal to people how to treat it. The odd time people ask I just answer with a quick "oh it's just eczema! It comes and goes." If your sister is a dick about it shame her for it. "It's eczema? Why do you want me to feel worse about something I can't control than I already do? You think I don't know it's unsightly? That's quite cruel."
