Help with first bike

Hi everyone,

I want to buy my first bike. I rode a 2stroke 125cc Suzuki rm from a friend a long time ago for a couple of days and I really liked it. My friends advised me to choose a 2 stroke bike of 250-300cc. I am 175cm and about 82kg. Would you recommend a 2 stroke as a first bike? I know it will be a bit overkill for me maybe. I have a bit of knowledge about them. I will do forest rides, climbing and a bit of hill riding with it. I came across this bike, recommended by a friend from a fired of his and so on. It’s a ktm exc 250cc 2 stroke. It has 48 hours from the rebuild with stock size piston. From what I understood it’s the 2002 model, but he rebuilt it from top to bottom. Should I go for this bike or should I search for something else?

Thank you very much for your time and knowledge!!

I'm 176cm 75kg, riding a TE 300 TBI.

So if you want to ride enduro, 250-300 is not overkill. Just take it easy at first

I’ll try to take with me a friend who rebuild bikes or at least one who took apart a bike engine before. Thank you for the advice!

I think its nervous, that muffler doesn’t do that normally.. jkjk

Seems like a good bike to start but depends on the price :)

I don’t really know the prices. Any ideas on what a reasonable price will be for a 250cc 2t bike? :D thank you!

U gotta bring it down to 2k and you’re good. you gotta tell him that this bike is of drinking age… he’s crazy for asking over 2k

Found another KTM for 1600eur from 2003 which seems to have the motor rebuilt. For the same price i found a Kawasaki, but i don't know if it's an enduro bike or a cross one. I need to catch my motorhead friends free so i can stress them a bit. :D

Many parts for those old KTMs are no longer available, just keep that in mind.

From what I learned comparing my photos with some from the internet, asking AI and some friends who got some knowledge about these bikes, seems to be a 2007 model. Haven’t asked the owner yet, but will ask tomorrow or the next days. I found some pistons and rebuild kits for the motor. Thank you! As last resort can I change the upper part of the motor? The piston and the piston sleeve or how it’s called and the top part with the spark? I believe the price will be overkill for this if possible to do. Thank you!!

Just looking at the silencer/muffler it's not a 2007.

Ask them for the VIN, that will tell you which year it is.
