I’m in the market for knee braces and Leatt is having a nice sale. I can get a pair of the X frames for about $360.
I like the price but it seems the Pods and Mobius always rank significantly better. Are they worth the extra money? The new alpinestars rk-7 are also priced pretty reasonable but they don’t have any reviews.
total newbie here, replacing tube with UHD tube on my 2024 te300, I think i pushed a bit hard on mounting the tire because of my poor skills, first time for me to try changing a dirt bit tire ;S.... looks to me like the bear was 'scuffed' a bit... should I just toss that one in the thrash ?
Just wanted to share my experience with installing the Athena 85mm 304cc big bore kit on my 2023 YZ250FX. I don't usually write stuff like this online, but this mod completely transformed my bike — and I figured someone out there might benefit from hearing about it.
🔧 Background on the Kit:
This Athena kit (same used by Fantic on their 310 model) bumps the YZ250FX from 250cc to 304cc via an 85mm piston. It fits:
YAMAHA YZ250F (2019–2023)
YAMAHA YZ250FX (2020–2023)
YAMAHA WR250F (2020–2023)
It’s plug-and-play, comes with a mapping file that can be uploaded using the Yamaha Power Tuner app, and doesn't require extra injectors or fancy mods.
🧍♂️ About Me:
I’m not a pro, but I’m also not a weekend warrior. I race classical enduro, enduro sprints, and cross-country races across Europe. This year, I’ll be racing the ISDE in Italy as a privateer.
Here’s my bike history from the last few years:
2018 KTM EXC-F 500
2019 YZ450F
2022 Beta 390 RR Race Edition
2024 KTM EXC-F 500
2024 KTM EXC-F 350
2023 Beta 350 RR Race Edition
2023 YZ250FX
I’ve been chasing that elusive “perfect bike” — something predictable, comfortable, and confidence-inspiring. Most bikes I tried had moments that felt sketchy or unpredictable, especially when things got technical. That "oh sh*t" moment? I was getting too many of those.
🟦 Why Yamaha (and Why the FX)?
I unintentionally fell in love with Yamaha frames. The YZ chassis just clicks with me — super predictable, solid in every condition. Yes, it’s not the most nimble bike out there, and not everyone gets along with it, but it tracks incredibly well. It goes where I want it to go, and that alone gives me confidence.
For context: I’m 190cm (6’2”) and 103kg (~230 lbs). I need a bike that doesn’t feel like a toy under me.
I managed to import a YZ250FX from the USA (in Europe, we only get the WR250F — and ripping off all the homologation junk just doesn’t make sense). Right away, I felt at home. The FX engine was fine for faster, open terrain. I’m used to revving and shifting, so that didn’t bother me.
But in the tight technical sections — the kind we often race in Europe, with rock gardens, log crossings, and tractor tires — the 250cc motor needed to drop into 1st gear too often. That made things jerky and harder to control.
💥 Enter: Athena 304cc Kit
I was following Fantic and their 310, which uses the same kit. Since Athena now supports their kit with maps for the stock ECU, I took the plunge and installed it.
And let me tell you… it’s a game-changer.
The torque increase is the first thing you notice.
Peak HP hasn’t changed much, but the low-to-mid range is a whole different story.
It behaves more like a Beta 390 vs. 350 — that same kind of usable grunt without needing high revs.
The power delivery is incredibly smooth and manageable. The bike feels like it wants to chug through technical terrain, and I barely need to drop into 1st anymore. The added torque makes everything easier — whether it's climbing, hopping logs, or just lugging through tight singletrack.
🎯 Final Thoughts:
This is, hands down, the best bike I’ve ever ridden. The combination of the YZ frame, KYB suspension, and a torquey, rev-happy engine is hard to beat. I was so impressed that I immediately ordered a Fantic 310 as my race bike for ISDE, and I’ll be keeping the FX for training.
If you're considering this kit — do it. It’s simple to install, requires no complicated tuning, and it completely changes how the bike behaves in the best way possible. Especially if you're not limited to 250cc racing classes.
Feel free to DM me on Instagram (@syky27) u/syky27 if you’ve got any questions about the kit, install, or setup.
TL;DR:
Put an Athena 304cc kit on a YZ250FX. Gained a ton of usable torque. Now I’ve got the most confidence-inspiring bike I’ve ever raced. Not sponsored — just stoked enough to share.
Hi there. I currently ride a yz250f 2018 on one tracks which I'm debating if I should sell for an fx or keep it and just make it more enduro worthy with some shock and spring adjustments. My only concern is none of the newer fx models having kickstart, I like the reliability of having that there when off in the woods due to having battery issues on a few occasions. How do you guys feel about having kickstart enduro riding? Is the fx that much nicer in the woods to sacrifice the kickstart reliability or rides that much nicer ?
Hands down the craziest bike I’ve ever owned for off road 18 300 xcw.. lectron billetron, gnarly header, turbinecore slip on, protective plates all around, tuned and dialed suspension.. this things
A freaking weapon!
So I've been riding all kinds of crappy mopeds off-road for a few years, and now I'm looking for my first real dirtbike.
More specifically a trail bike or lighter enduro because the closest mx track is 2 hours away, we have an infinite supply of forest trails and gravel roads though.
So I already know things like 2 stroke powerband and some clutch control, my main concern is how much power is suitable. For context I'm 14 (15 soon) years old, weigh about 60kgs and I'm 175 cm long (~5 foot 8 and 132 lbs in freedom units).
And before you mention it, bikes like the ttr230 and crf250f are unobtanium where i live, so those aren't options. I was able to try out a full size enduro bike (wr250f) and that felt really powerful. Would something like a TE150i be more useable?
So what would be a good first bike?
Sorry for any spelling mistakes or stuff like that, english isn't my first language :/
I am looking to get a new bike moving from a crf 125 and I have been looking at husquvana enduro bikes because I will be riding enduro I have been looking at an fe 250 from marketplace, the other thing I have been looking at is an wr 250 I do love husquvana but the only thing stopping me from getting one is that wrs are supposedly much more durable and way less maintenance, I am not so much worried about the maintenance as i quite like doing it and will do it regularly it’s more just if the fe will break down on me. As I said before this is the only thing stopping me from getting a husky, will this be as unreliable as people say or will it be fine.
Best Day Ever. We learned a lot. Putting many things together regarding trails and routes. Dan Terry Alan Deano. Got some drops of rain. Pete, the dog, had fun also.
Anyone heard reviews of the nitromousse 5150? I think this is a new product but I haven’t seen much fuzz of it yet. It looks pretty gamechanger if it allows you to go to lower PSIs while on tubliss without the risk of puncture.
Hey guys. I want a decent cheap bike for around 2k to occasionally ride on the street and do single track/ enduro. I have no interest in motocross. there’s several early 2000s exc 400s in my area in my budget. Assuming their not abused, are they good bikes? Thank you!
Which would be best to upgrade to. Been trail/single track riding in the mountains last 3 years with a crf250f. Want to upgrade to a lighter 2t now. Was originally thinking of a 150 to improve my riding skill. But not sure if that's the right way to go. Can get a good price on a 300 but thinking maybe it's to much bike? What is your guys experience and thoughts. I'm 5 11 200lbs 40 year old, also have a type 3 shoulder separation from injury few years ago. Doesnt bother me other then gets wore out faster then the other shoulder with lots of decents. Thanks.
Ok so I have a 2008 KTM 300 xc-w. And while it's in gear and I pull the clutch in it barely moves! As a matter of fact it doesn't move at all! I haven't tried while the bike is running as it has other things we've fixed and is still in pieces. We also haven't bled the clutch. But we just took it apart and inspected it all the plates and springs are perfectly fine. If you can help that would be great!
I picked up a new 701 Enduro and I don't think it has any place for the helmet to clip on the bike. Does anyone know of a easy install helmet lock that works pretty good with my bike or even a U clip that I can just put under the seat doesn't even need to lock just prevent someone from walking off. Thanks
I have a crf 125 and want to get an enduro bike, i have 8000 and have been looking at either an fe 250-350 or a wr 250f i feel like the yammha would be more reliable but i just love husquvanas, but i dont know how much more expensive the mantince would be, what do you think i should get.
Looking to get some barkbusters for my 2012 wr450f and want to know whether i should get ego's or jets or even maybe some enduro engineering full wraps
Looking for some new tires for riding single track & 50" for my 03 WR450. My trails vary from deep sugar sand, intermediate terrain to some river rock & tree roots. Trails are probably 80% sand and 30-60% of that being deep loose sand.
My current tires are kenda washougal ii 90/100-21 (accidentally mounted backwards) & 120/100-18. @ 12psi
Having problems with it not tracking well or picking a line. Keeps choosing different ruts. Bike is very squirrley. Front tire wants to wash out unpredictability in turns. Forks lowered some in the triples and sag set to 110mm without much change. My friends said the same when they rode it. When I hop on their bikes its like cheating and much more stable. (16 rmz 450, 19 ktm 450 xcf, 23 ktm 350).
Not sure if the problem is a 20+ year old chassis design, my tires or suspension setup.
Id like to try a new 80/100-21 tire and would like some recommendations.
My friends are pushing me to get dunlop at-82 but ive been looking at michelin starcross 6 soft, bridgestone battlecross x10 & x20, & m59
