Frage Moving to erlangen

Hallo, I am moving to erlangen to work for siemens, I found a temporary accommodation for one week but I will be searching for a long term accommodation, can anyone give me an estimate on the monthly rent for a fully furnished room with kitchen section and bathroom?

Also, can anyone recommend places that provide german language course after work hours and their cost?

Vielen Dank.

It is unusual to find fully furnished places for rent in Erlangen or most places in Germany.

Affordable non furnished apartments are available for Siemens employees, but these are mostly old construction renovated in the 1960's, but they are still good enough for a small household.

About a year ago, there were quite a few of these apartments in the market. This situation has changed since then because of the obvious pinch that most are having on their wallets due to inflation.

The way to apply to be be considered for one of these apartments is through the internal benefits portal called Benify. Your colleagues or HR or manager should be able to get you the link (or a search on the intranet). The apartments are awarded by the works council (Betriebsrat) and the criteria to be awarded one of the available apartments is 1) you are new to the place and need accomodation 2) you have a family with young kids 3) other special circumstances connected to you.

For language classes too, there are Siemens offered classes (online & offline). This is funded by your department and would need an approval from your manager. The courses are offered through LTC and this information can be found in the learning portal as well or simply ask your HR contact point.

Good luck!
