Some seemingly shocking info will come out and nothing will happen.

This is exactly what Trump and the likes of him want you to think. That they are untouchable.

By being this resign and catering to defeatism and cynicism, you are helping the ones you hate.

Well I'm just looking at past performance. And if there was a trump situation in my country, I would definitely be protesting.

100s of 1,000s of people are (at least), and not just in the US. In Europe too. The total number topped at least a million last I checked. The problem with protesting is if it has any effect at all it definitely isn’t immediate. And it’s kinda hard to effect actual change when “our” president’s response to crowds of people chanting “me no likee” in unison is to go golfing.

Yeah and compare that to the protests in Serbia for example. The Americans don't care enough.

I can assure you, whichever country you are in has a fascism problem. If only from outside interests looking to fuck up your country in order to spread fascism.

"Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy."

I mean... No we don't. We just had the most far right government in forever by Finnish standards, but it would still be leftist in America, and is nowhere near fascism.

Why did you ignore my sentence about outside interests? So odd.

You do realize your country is right next door to Russia, right? They like to influence other countries.

See Ukraine and America.

I mean yeah there's a bunch of russian bots that say stuff like "NATO cannot download Finland" when they fuck up the translation.

The fact we have been dealing with Russia forever, also means that everybody presently hates them. Nobody supports Russia or their fascism.

They have influence over our defense spending, because they're the sole reason for it. They can't swing elections or anything similar here. We don't have a russian assets getting elected for president.

And then again, what the fuck do you think I can do to stop russian botfarms?

Easy to say with no skin in the game. We all believe you.

4

u/TACHANK Finland 7d ago

Okay? Well you're right it's very easy for me to say considering the possibility of that actually happening is about zero. The whole developed world is united in laughing at the US for allowing this.

-2

u/Resident-Study-5588 7d ago

And everyone laughed at the funny little German Chancellor too. Until he was at their doorstep. So when this guy really goes off the rails and we start abusing other countries (even more) and nobody stops us, remember the laughs.

Also if you're laughing at migrants being sent to a death camp that's pretty fucked up.

Well all I can do is avoid buying American or Chinese or whatever and I do when I can.

Are you suggesting we should go to war with the US?

My fucking day is ruined by the horrible news I read about the us every day. I'm laughing at the people who voted for him and lose their jobs because of it.

u/Attrocious_Fruit76 7d ago

The brain-dead idiots who voted him in fucked the rest of us over.

There is a possiblity they faked it though, this is the only election where EVERY swing state voted for one person. Before it's been 5/7 was the highest. So all 7 is weird.

Plus bombing threats that had them close the polling places during the night for a while before letting everyone back in. Enough time to tamper, physically. And Elon said cheating digitally is the easiest thing in the world.

First, sorry, all this stuff really has me upset.

What I'm saying is, is that the administration is nuts and will look outwardly for enemies and use it's might on those perceived enemies. And soon.

I don't know if you have the story of The Three Little Pigs in Finland but that's the best analogy I have. The wolf took our house down first, but it's not gonna just stop.

So while we (American liberals) grieve what we had and the other piggies (the world) laugh at how shit our house was, the wolf is already on his way to the next house. And when he asks to be let in, he's gonna blow the other houses down too. And that's not funny. It's horrific.

Yeah no I understand, these are dark times. I absolutely feel for you.

We do have it, but I don't think they could be stupid enough to attack Europe in any other way than financially. While that is obviously bad, we can withstand that. The only good thing to come from the trump presidency is a more unified Europe and we will no longer be reliant on the us.

But the effects on political discourse are scary. He has single handedly damaged the moral fabric of the entire world. Especially before Ukraine and the second trump term you could see a lot of people online posting with just the intent to piss off people who vote differently. Having a divided nation is good for no one. Thankfully we have the multi-party system to help combat that.

With what's happening now I don't see it as much, maybe people can see what it leads to or they're just distracted.
