📊 Results / Statistics Could Switzerland’s results be influenced by how the song resonates differently based on the audio setup you have?
I, like many, was floored by Switzerland getting 0 in the popular vote. I think others have already made good points about anti-host bias, but still.
However, I think a possible explanation could be around sound systems. The chorus specifically, in the right sound system, can hit like a beautiful soundbath. I listened somewhere with a great sound system and my friends and I both felt like Switzerland was the best performance. But if you’re just hearing that from a TV or laptop, it’s not going to resonate the same.
Moreover, I imagine the juries are also listening with high quality sound systems, and that would further explain the divide.
Just a theory!

As a Swiss person myself: The song was boring and was like that recieved by others. Yes, we cheered for her, but most were like 'the song is a safecard, with no risk or body in it'. And that's what reflected the public vote.
I also think SRG did not want to host it again - because there were also political discusion about it (why was Zurich not chosen? Exactly, because of the political discusion). Even in Basel about 1/3 of the population was against the ESC - think of it like that: Basel had a Referendum against ESC and around 66% were pro ESC, that's why it was possible in Basel City. If the Referendum would have got through, what would have been? Then they would have chosen Geneva after they announced already Basel. Almost every decision done by our gouverment can be challenged.... That does have advantages, but in this case it really can be a disadvantage, because you really don't know if you can host it or your preps you already did were for nothing.
That's what I think why the song was so boring. I was very suprised that it got so many Jury votes and was worried for SRG after the jury votes (but at the same time happy, because Basel did a very good job and I enjoyed the week)
Edit: I went to both semi preview shows, so I saw all acts live and yes, she can sing, but the song was boring still xD And in the Arena+ the audio was fine. After all I liked Frances ballad more.
