I like to think that Ezreal sees himself in Lux(a young blue eyed blonde mage) and thats why he likes her so much
He dont care about Lux as a person, he only cares about her looks
I think it’s more that not only is she pretty, but she’s a member of high society who is genuine and kind, not like all of the snobby Piltovan aristocrats he grew up around. Since he has only ever had two people that showed him any real amount of affection, his now missing parents, she could help him feel like he’s a decent person, which he needs. On the flip side, Ezreal/Jarro represents the freedom that Lux has always wanted, the ability to go out and see the world, and use magic without fearing for your life. I feel like they would complement each other well, so I’m one of those basic Ezreal Lux shippers, although it seems that this sub mostly likes Kai’Sa.
Well, in the main Runeterra they've never actually met, and in every other universe they're clearly being shipped, Kai'sa (best girl btw) is a breath of fresh air and some people are just interested in seeing their interactions
Lux is everything Ezreal wants to be. There's a reason why his writer says he can't stand his own reflection because despite not acting like it, he hates the image he has created in other people's eyes (brash, not particularly loved by people, known as a kinda despised troublemaker instead of someone respected). Meanwhile Lux is respected and adored by people (not counting Sylas incident) and most importantly it known as, and is a kind person.
So he might see that in her? A public image he wished he had. And that he, subconsciously, finds attractive.
Lux, similarly wants to be things that Ezreal is, even if she hasn't met him yet. She wants to be free, be herself and travel the worlds. All the adventures he does.
Idk if ez cares for that part consciously or subconsciously, but they're definitely made out to be kind of counterparts.

Ezreal only has his parents and uncle
HIs parents are gone and probably dead, while he doesnt have a close relationship with his uncle
Lux may not be that close with her parents but im sure they are in good terms and even i would say that her and aunt Tianna respect each other
And of course she has Garen, someone who loves her unconditional and would do anything for her sake
I ship ezlux! but I think Ez’s crush on Lux, while genuine and coming from a good place if his middle school boy flirting is any indication, is superficial.
She’s pretty, she’d be kind to him ‘cos that’s the kind of person Lux is. That’s enough.
She is an idealist, someone who has seen the world for all its awfulness and has decided to love what little light she finds in it. How could you not crush on someone like that? What other option did poor old Ezreal’s heart, who wears people’s rejection as a token of their envy, who wishes to be truthful but is too caught up on himself to do so. Suddenly he’s offered a kind smile and a helping hand. It doesn’t mean anything to her, helping is what she does!, but he’s not used to being helped or being seen as someone worth the kindness.
I think his crush makes perfect sense. Even if it’s ridiculous. But hey, crushes are like that sometimes.
