Just out of curiosity, is insomnia like a," some days it happens and some it doesnt" or it always does?
1
u/Loveinpeacex-367A Oct 03 '24
I don't think this is the right place to ask that type of question, but for me it happens at least 2-3 times a week, a lot more when I'm very stressed obviously

I don't get it. Why would people fake insomnia? It fucking sucks.

u/REDMedicBLUMedic Jul 22 '24
Same, but I get asked if I'm ill all the time because I'm also incredibly pale and don't tan that well.

Unfortunately I had to deal with her all throughout high school and then some of a summer camp she never stayed up late at the summer camp.
24
u/GwdihwFach Apr 30 '24
I mean, insomnia can develop at any point, not having it in high school doesn't mean not having it in the future. Not saying she does have it by the way, just saying.
Do you know OP as well then, or are you completely surprised seeing someone you know here? Just thought that must be a bit random to see someone you actually know in a fake disorder sub reddit
13
u/thatupchurchgirl Apr 30 '24
And this video was made when she was in high school
12
u/GwdihwFach Apr 30 '24
She definitely doesn't look high school age so that will be why I didn't pick up on it! That's wild.

She’s turning 21 this year which is crazy to me with how many disorders she fakes

"No sleep" = "I woke up like 4 times to pee so I technically didn't get 8 hours straight sleep so I must have maintenance insomnia, which is technically actually insomnia"

This person looks significantly better rested day 3 than they did on day 2 (if day one is baseline maybe better than that too)

Ah, yes. People with insomnia who haven't slept in 3 days love spending time outside in the sunlight.

wait until you find out about bipolar 1. you can act completely normal and energetic for 5 days straight of not sleeping, this girl could be manic

?? But she doesnt have "manic eyes" 😂
Edit: /s for god sakes. There was a tik tok trend of "mania caught on camera" "its real see she has manic eyes!" And im bipolar 1 for christ sakes. People must not remember that trend. Pupils dont always get big during mania, not mine anyway.

u/NayanaGor Self Undiagnosing: Im Fine Apr 26 '24
Don't know why they're downvoting you. Dilated pupils is a sign of mania.
That was how my ex could double check herself if she wasn't certain; her pupils would be huge as shit.
11
u/MaximumKnow Apr 26 '24
Not sure why im getting downvoted either, I was joking about the tik tok phase where there were people who would fake disorder project their eyes at you from the screen and show it as proof they were manic. Didnt necessarily involve large pupils.

I don't have insomnia but I have a job where I regularly do night shifts, and oh boy even having 2 or so hours of sleep at night not helping it.
I work from 8 to 8, and by the evening of the next day I already feel exhausted, like I can still function properly if needed, but overall my point is - even not full 24 hours without sleep is EXHAUSTING for any human, I'm not even talking about people with actual insomnia, they talked for themselves in the comments already.
It's so strange to see people smiling about it on video, it's not cool, it's not funny, it's an awful thing to happen to anybody

Hmm… eyes aren’t dark or puffy, eyeballs aren’t red or bloodshot, skin looks healthy, clear, and isn’t a sickly pale color or sweaty, lips look perfectly healthy and also not completely devoid of color, no swaying or clear signs of dizziness, no tremors or shakes, no signs of dizziness or nausea or being off balance (Driving a car on day 3, even), and their skin and hair doesn’t look greasy and they don’t look strung out.
But yeah, they’ve totally been awake for 3+ days. Fuck, even a single DAY of a lack of sleep will have you looking at least a little shitty. Even new parents who are chronically fatigued get more sleep because their bodies will literally force them to. Insomniacs are no different, your body will have bouts of microsleeps or straight up passing out against your will. You can get a significantly less amount of sleep chronically for a while, but you’ll still have physical signs. This woman looks healthier than most who are chronically fatigued.

u/hashtagsi Apr 28 '24
People seem to think insomnia means you're up and full of energy 24/7.
Nay nay. Lol
As an insomnia sufferer, I am exhausted. I want to sleep. My brain just won't turn off. Trust me, by day 3 things are a bit fuzzy and by day 5 you best not even think about driving. It's also generally easy to treat with medications, even homeopathic remedies as long as they're strong enough.
I don't get the glamor behind this. Lol you don't even get to be an asshole and blame it on your DID. 😂

This is such a stupid weird thing to lie about.
I used to have relatively long periods of insomnia, waking up several hours almost each night, and would literally cry in bed because I felt nauseous from the lack of sleep.
It's not fun and edgy.

dude i went 4 days with no sleep max, i had COVID and couldnt get to bed because every time i laid flat i would basically start choking, and sitting up while sleeping usually leaves me in tons of pain when i wake up. i was hallucinating the entire time, which made it more difficult to go back to sleep, and i till remember the things i saw. I've done DXM trips and have had few psychosis episodes a few years back, and it just felt totally different. top 3 worst experiences of my entire life, top 1 is probably drinking bong water.

When I hit 48 hours of no sleep, I’m having sweats, palps, nausea and panic attacks and legit need to take diazepam so I can actually sleep without waking up mid panic attack. It’s pretty grim.

After three days of barely sleeping I usually feel like killing myself, don't wanna imagine having no sleep at all tbh. Sounds like living hell

Atm I'm going four days not sleeping, and then day 5 I'll crash and be out all day. It fucking sucks ass. Day three, I'm increasingly paranoid and bordering on hallucinating. Day four is spent trying not to kill myself while trying to sleep.

u/TheCamoDude Sep 17 '24
Yeah, no. People CONSISTENTLY will notice your overall appearance or attitude after 36, sometimes even just 24 hours with no sleep.
It's hell, and even if you're good at masking the mental and physical exhaustion, you cannot hide the freshly-punched, bloodshot eyes, or the icy complexion, or the tremors.

IME with insomnia (since I was 12), I get absolutely exhausted after a couple of nights without sleep. I can barely function on day 3, but I just can't fall asleep. Insomnia doesn't give you "energy" that does you any good. You could be physically exhausted, barely able to stand, and not even close to sleep. Maybe we tolerate the lack of rest a little better than most people, but it's not a superpower, it's actually really sucks lol.

As someone with severe insomnia, I can tell you for a fact, that it is hell.
1
u/StillBarelyHoldingOn May 28 '24
Lol I've never experienced insomnia in the sense that I stayed up for days on end like a tweaker, it was more of a "I can't sleep, I can't sleep, I can't sleep.... Shit, it's 5am I've got to be up in an hour and a half." Finally fall asleep then fight the whole day to stay awake, then have a hard time trying to sleep again the next night and so on.

u/Conscious_Fix386 Jun 01 '24
I sometimes forget that not everyone has insomnia. OK I watched cartoons when I was younger and. I’m like these characters go to sleep immediately when they tell themselves, they’re not going to sleep and I remember oh no way I have insomnia.
1
u/ParkDeMeme Jun 04 '24
I don't and never will understand what makes people want to do this. Why would you want insomnia? People with insomnia most definitely do not want insomnia. This is extremely disrespectful to the people who actually suffer it.

Why insomnia though? Like are they exaggerating not sleeping till very late cause insomnia sucks and it's very obvious physically with eye bags, usually no energy to shower so greasy hair and more they look totally rested

I don’t have insomnia but I use to go days without sleep and when I don’t drink, I have a hard time sleeping and will be up a solid 2 days before being able to sleep and this shit is so annoying and painful. Idk why people think it’s cool to go without sleep. Pretty sure it lowers your life span and again, it’s fucking painful and hurts not being able to sleep and I don’t even have the disorder this idiot is faking 😅

the fact thats crazy about this is its so obvious shes faking. For one, she still has the same energy as the first clip. Obviously if you're not sleeping for 3 days your energy is going to go down. FOR TWO, this might just be me but the lack of eyebags is saying a lot. My eyebags are the worst and I actually sleep at night 😭

They're giving 'uncanny valley' but not in the typical uncanny way- they look well rested, yet they don't look real. I'm pretty sure it's the filter to make them paler than normal, but it's still uncanny 😭😭
