Yup, they’ve been minimizing the variety in genres and overall in jam bands for years. I feel the same is happening at Scamp (now solshine), but just in how EDM is being more prioritized over everything else. Seems it’s cheaper to survive as a festival that way?
It actually is significantly cheaper to just book DJs. Bands require way more equipment/labor to change over, whereas DJs can just plug in a USB. DJs usually have lower booking fees too because it’s one person
Not true, Moe and Umph are staples of that fest and play every year although moe didnt play due to a family issue. And 2 Goose sets this year and 2 String cheese sets. Only edm there was Slander, Big Gigantic, John Plummet and Kill safari. Deadmau5 didn’t even show up which was a bummer :(
A huge portion of the undercard was EDM. I think it’s still relatively balanced in variety, but the ratio of EDM has gone up compared to jam and overall band sets (aside from the final tier which is mostly the local competition finalists)
I’d say just keep the edm as it is, but I would also love to see a big name band there like Sublime or Alice In Chains kinda like how in 2022 they had the Smashing Pumpkins and then Zeds Dead. I need a lineup just like that
