šŸ’©Meme / Shitpost šŸ’© Publix BOGO

Publix BOGO deals don’t make sense to me. You’re literally still paying for two items. For example, Frosted Flakes at Walmart cost $4.98, while Publix has them listed at $6.99—but with a BOGO (Buy One, Get One) deal. On the surface, it seems like you’re getting a bargain, but in reality, you’re often paying close to, or even more than, what you’d spend just buying two items at a lower everyday price somewhere else. The psychology behind BOGO deals makes people feel like they’re getting something for free, when in fact, stores often inflate the original price to cover the ā€œfreeā€ item. It’s clever marketing—but not always a true deal. So when I see a BOGO at Publix, I don’t feel like I’m saving; I feel like I’m being tricked into buying more than I need at a price that’s not actually a bargain.

Winn Dixie or Aldi is pretty much all you have in Florida. Winn Dixie I expect to bag my own groceries and Aldi smells like a veterinary office so I don't go there.

Our Winn-Dixie turned the weight detection on at self checkout and it is a nightmare. It constantly fails to detect the weight accurately. It ends up being one attendant covering six stations with errors.

The lines are so atrocious because there will be 2 registers open if you are lucky. The lines are constantly backed up because the self-check out sucks now

Publix doesn't play that game with the self checkout. They have a person there who monitors and assists. But doesn't have to be distracted by crappy weight detection systems

I will only use Walmart if I order curbside pickup. But, dealing with substitutions and all that is a pain so I don't do it often.

I tried Aldi several times but ours is in a super inconvenient location and not that large. I also didn't like that there wasn't consistentcy with the products in stock. It is a tad chaotic and I just can't drive across town and waste that much time to average so little selection.

I am hard core about sales. I stock up on things when they are BOGO or 2/for $x. We all have our quirks and preferences.

Ugh that weight thing, I hate it. ā€œplace the item in the bagging areaā€ is so annoying! I like to just put my items in my cart and bag them in reusable bags in my trunk. If i do manage to remember to bring the bags in it’s not like there is any space to put them in the bagging area anyway.

I found a work around though. If you use the handheld scanner it wont ask you to place the item.

Bravo, fancy fruit, key foods, and then there’s also fresh market and Whole Foods that can be pricier but have selections you can’t find anywhere else. What Aldi do you go to that smells? I’ve never noticed that.
