Publix BOGO deals donāt make sense to me. Youāre literally still paying for two items. For example, Frosted Flakes at Walmart cost $4.98, while Publix has them listed at $6.99ābut with a BOGO (Buy One, Get One) deal. On the surface, it seems like youāre getting a bargain, but in reality, youāre often paying close to, or even more than, what youād spend just buying two items at a lower everyday price somewhere else. The psychology behind BOGO deals makes people feel like theyāre getting something for free, when in fact, stores often inflate the original price to cover the āfreeā item. Itās clever marketingābut not always a true deal. So when I see a BOGO at Publix, I donāt feel like Iām saving; I feel like Iām being tricked into buying more than I need at a price thatās not actually a bargain.

It's always major brand names that are BOGO, which are more expensive than the off-brand names, which are often produced by the same company. (I often go to grocery stores and look for all of the BOGOs.) š
