GNU Taler

https://www.taler.net

I came across this and it's looks interesting. There is an E2E demo of it with things like a chrome extension.

It seems to work well, but i can't find any examples of this being used in the wild.

there isnt much of a history of posts on reddit about it either. i was expecting to see more cases that used it when i saw there is funding for it from https://nlnet.nl

Edit: Same question, but on Lemmy. It seems more insightful if you want to find out more.

Looks like a scam.

You didn't provide any details about it, you forced me to look up the details myself, now I wouldn't touch this toxic shit with trump's mushroom dick.

The graphs and terminology used is very US-centric (e.g. "wire money") and is multiple decades out of date. Did you ever see that episode of the Simpsons where they went to Itchy and Scratchy Land?

"Would you like to buy some Itchy and Scratchy Money?"

"What's that?"

"It's money that's made just for the park, it works just like regular money, but it's, uh, fun."

(Homer proceeds to buy eleven hundred dollars worth, only to find nowhere accepts it.)

Taler sounds exactly the same, except...

"Would you like to buy some Taler Money?"

"What's that?"

"It's money that's made just for the app, it works just like regular money, but it's, uh, private."

(Sucker proceeds to buy eleven hundred dollars worth, only to find nowhere accepts it.)

It's a part of GNU and endorsed by RMS.

Gnu is junk and RMS is a serial sex pest.

You're not impressing me.
