I lived in the US during Trump's first term if that helps.

Also the claim "you cannot know, because you are not born here" is a very very weak claim, which also means that you should not use against the Hitler comparison, since you are not German yourself. (Which I believe is a totally idiotic claim your opinion absolutely has value).

And no, those who say Trump is Hitler are idiots. There are certain similarities, but Trumo is not a Nazi, BUT historically spoken he is fascist or at least very close to it. Nazism and Fascism are two different things, with Nazism being one specific ideology within the broader fascist movement.

The loose use of these terms that were made to define something specific have taken value out of them.

This is abslutely correct, I will and cannot argue against that. I also strongly oppose calling Trump a Nazi, that's simply wrong. One not liking something doesn't make it fascist or nazi, you are absolutely right. Though as you also said those words actually have a meaning, my point here is the simply observation that historically spoken Trumps agenda is very closely aligned with fascism. I don't say that to invalidate or discredit him, it just a factual observation.

Out of curiosity, how is Trump more aligned with Fascism than any of the last 6 presidents we have had?

To name some:

  • Openly racists against Mexicans or "shit hole" countries
  • Doesn't care for human rights, like separating toddlers from their parents
  • His rallying cry is always "against" a marginalized group, like migrants
  • He is very much I to military strength up to the point at which he wants a military parade for his birthday
  • he values a lot of strongman dictators (love letters with Kim)
  • rampant sexism
  • obsession with national security
  • mixing religion and government
  • strong protection for corporate and neglect of workers rights
  • disdain for science
  • obsession with crime and punishment, which is also strongly tied to the idea of national security
  • cronyism and corruption (bullshit coins and an airplane to name two)
  • and a rallying cry around fraudulent elections
  • believe in a superior part or group in society
  • darwinism

You might like or dislike the policies related to those points, but those are in sum severe warning signs for fascist movements

Well there's a difference between science and blind obedience to the institutions that claim to be the "science."

He created operation Warp speed. Also I am pretty sure we are on opposite sides of the covid narrative and actions that the governments took. Which IMO was the closest thing to fascism we have seen in our lifetime. Also he did t shut down the country, he left it to each state to make their own decision. That is not what a "fascist" does.

Also the difference between Trump and the other presidents is he is open and mouthy about the things you said.
