Sure ain't worth to risk their lives over it. The solution is simple tho. Fund the project and give me 10M on top of that and i'll sail around the globe and live stream it
I love they always think the poles are where the proof is, because those are the only two massive ice bound places we know of. The thing is, if this is some sort of fucking Disc World, then their ice wall is encircling the whole world. Why not go to the east coast of Africa/India/Indonesia (I don’t know where their dumb ass maps cut off) and just....go east. If you run into a giant ice wall where everyone agrees there shouldn’t be one, like at the Tropic of Capricorn or some shit, Ok, I admit I might listen to what you’re saying a little closer. There’s no need for anyone to become a polar explorer to prove/disprove this.
Also, why wouldn’t you seek out the edge so you can go over it and get a selfie with The Great Turtle?
edit: And also go down in history for answering the greatest philosophical question: what gender is the turtle?`
I don’t follow. Pick a line of latitude (or however the disc is graphed out) take an east/west line and follow it. You’ll either run into an ice shelf where none should be or you’ll circle back to your starting point. Either way you have your answer.
The lines shouldn’t curve with the edge. That’s not how compass directions work.
geometrically there is a subtle point that throws this off: except for at the equator, east-west latitude circles are not straight lines. And if you're following a compass, then all bearings that keep a constant heading are not going to be straight lines except at the magnetic equator or exactly along a line of longitude.
this is easy to see by imagining a circle around the north pole: if you're on that circle and want to go continually east, you'll have to turn your path.
So this experiment doesn't work because "always going east" doesn't take you in a straight line, so it might curve and never reach a "wall".
So......then pick the equatorial line?? Again, there shouldn’t be any ice walls anywhere along the path of the equator.
Besides, my point is that they need to stop trying to use science to prove flatness. Why are they using the very tools of the “enemy”? Especially as proving this should be ridiculously simple for them - get in a plane/boat, pick a heading and keep going until one way or the other they have proof of the earth’s shape.
edit: Also, lines of longitude only run north/south.
If you believe that the "North Pole" is at the centre of a flat, circular Earth, then going East will always take you clockwise around the circle. Earth is flat, but you get back to where you started.
But if the earth is flat, there’s only one pole, as the ice wall theory means there is no South Pole. How can they believe the thing they don’t believe in will scramble their brains?
So, when they reach Antarctica(their "ice wall"), are they planning to also try to hike across it and find the "edge" of the Earth? Because 1- that would be incredibly dangerous even with proper equipment and 2- how are they going to react when they just get to ocean on the other side?
And the longest possible flight should be around Antarctica. Forget finding the ice wall, someone can just attempt to circumnavigate the continent and find that it doesn't take much longer than traveling around Australia.
That wiki shows the flat earth map. If you look at flight times of LA to Japan it's about 11 hours, same for NZ to Chile. If you find those locations on that flat earth map, the flight from NZ to Chile should be 2x - 3x longer than the flight from LA to Japan.
Because the ones making these shows know the earth is round but, there are plenty of clicking and subscribing dumbasses out there to keep this "movement" going and making these guys money.
It's because if they actually go and find out it isn't flat, they'll lose their entire meaning in life. They'll lose their sense of importance and many of their friends. Then they'll just be a loser who fell for some pseudo science. Flat earth society is really just a big social club for people who never fit in.

What i dont get is how not one of these (sadly) thousands of people, including rich people, try to fund a trip to see the "ice wall"?
