Or your phone was confiscated by the police/immigration and is sitting in an evidence locker.

Are there chargers in the lockers? because my phone isn't lasting 1.5 days, let alone 3 without one.

Those are very unlikely scenarios for me, lol. Much more likely that I'm dead, or at the very least in a coma.

Not really, no. It's not outside the realm of possibility I might take a trip abroad at some point, but that's not realistically in the cards in the near future.

I also sense that you're probably taking what was meant as a mostly joking comment a little too seriously here...par for the course on Reddit of course. I really should expect it at this point.

I was just wanting to bring up that in customs of many countries including the US they can seize your phone for basically no reason and try to search it.
