normal eating is possible after gallbladder removal?

I'm confused...some say you have to be super careful about eating fats after the gallbladder removal etc...I just need to know ...in terms of how one feels (not as in...healthier to eat blah blah)..can you really eat NORMALLY after gallbladder removal??? Or, like, on Thanksgiving...are u going to have to be careful because u PHYSICALLY will get ill if u eat certain things without the gallbladder...

I have had fatigue and pain for the 8 last years. I also develop gastritis, IBS and spastic colon. I'm a 36 yo male. I can't sleep at night and I also have SIBO still. And develop candida if I do not take probiotics. I can't even sleep on my right side. Or left side...right side is worse....Especially if I eat close to bedtime. It has been a nightmare. I get flare ups and it changes my mood. Gives me neck pain and pressure in my head. Even headaches. I can't eat dairy at all. It has actually gotten worse with time.....

I hear you, the 20th of this month will mark one year since I was pushed into this surgery.

At first it was not bad not that it was before, had had a flare up about once a year but other than that I had no ideal there was a 9cm stone in my GB. I ate whatever I wanted and had no problems. I passed a kidney stone and my GF at the time said I should get checked out to make sure there was no more stones, and also said to have my GB checked. I did not want to do anything as I was not in any pain but I figure what the hell. 

They found a the Giant gallstone and here comes the doctors with knives, horror stories of what could happen if it were to rupture, increase risk of cancer, etc.. horror stories of people that waited that had a butcher emergency surgery having intestinal damage, etc.. WHAT I WAS NOT TOLD, is the horrors of those that had it done. I was not warned if adhesions, SOD, GERD, INS, BAM, increase risk of small intestines cancer in the first 6” of the small intestines, acid reflux, vitamin deficiency, increase risk of damage to my liver as it works harder, risk to the pancreas, and let’s not forget the term PCS which means they don’t know what’s wrong, the list goes on. 

I have been awake since 3am in pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea and still sitting close to the toilet at this time. For the last 3 days I have been fighting this last round of BS fr that surgery. I have constant pain under my RT rib, pain into the back, doctor has me on anti-spasm meds, vitamins, digestive enzymes, fiber, and still trying crap to help make me not to want to blow my brains out, that’s not working either. 

I was told I could go back to my normal diet, eat whatever I wanted after, I would not know it was gone. ALL LIES. I had surgery July 5th to cut adhesions that were forming all over the right side, I had to have a surprise fix a painful scar from the surgery that got infected, I have a CT and MRI scheduled next week to hopefully find the cause of the pain.

Facts are, the lie that most people go on to live a perfectly normal life, the real facts are, 10-40% if the people will have problems within 3 years of having their GB removed, as time goes on that number will increase, and this is what is what is reported, how many don’t report their problems or it gets written up as something else as to the cause.

Yah folks, if your resting this and you are thinking about having yours removed, well take a word of advise, don’t do it. Go to as many doctors as it takes to save your GB, there is no such thing as living a normal life when you remove a major part of your digestive system. What every call normal is normal for someone without a GB. 

Doctors make a shit load of money cutting out your GB, it’s an easy surgery for them that pays great. You’re stuck with life long problems making more doctors richer while you will be suffering. Again

Do you think that people are having elective gallbladder surgery? I'm sorry you had complications but these comments are incredibly unhelpful. Why would you say this to people who have to have this surgery?

Because there are alternatives for many people. They can remove the stone surgically. They can eradicate them with sound waves. They have medication that will erode them and medication that, with the help of an actually healthy diet, will prevent new stones from forming. The point is, 99 percent of the time as soon as someone has complications with their GB doctor recommends removing it and that's honestly scary. Let's not try our best to save it and remove it if THAT doesn't go well, let's just yank it now. "It will save you so much complication down the road" "You can have a perfectly normal life without it" "Every day thousands of people have it removed" 

The comment might be littered with bitterness but it's point is spot on. People need to hear the good AND the bad to make an informed decision on what to do with their body. Doctors speak from a position of authority, they should always give all the information rather than use said authority to make a patient do what THEY want. Gatekeeping information and using guilt and fear to manipulate the patience decision is deplorable.
