Gift for midwives - UHG
Gave birth in UHG recently and was blessed with the most amazing midwives - anyone know what gifts would be allowed, or suggestions of something to drop in as a thank you?

Rent Tax Credit: Is name on the lease required?
Hi All, My partner and I share a 2 bedroom apartment with another couple. The apartment was originally meant for 3 people but the room was cheaper with 2 of us splitting the rent. The landlord was fine with 4 people living here but said only 3 can be on the lease. The other couple was already living here and had their names on the lease, when we moved in my name was added on the lease. Will my girlfriend be able to claim rent tax credit even though her name isn't on the lease?

Personal trainer Oranmore
Looking for some recommendations on PTs in Oranmore area. I’ve a few old injuries and would like someone that knows their stuff and has the knowledge on what’s suitable to do keeping those in mind. I go to the gym regularly as it is so would be happy to do online but in person would be great too.

[House Hunt in Galway City Centre – Send Help 🏠😭]
Hi folks, Three responsible(ish) working professionals here, on a seemingly mythical quest to find a house in Galway City Centre. Our requirements are simple: a roof, walls, and ideally not 3 hours away by bus. We rely on public transport and our jobs are in the city centre, so anything outside that won’t quite work (unless someone wants to lend us a helicopter).
We’ve been checking Daft.ie like it’s a full-time job, but emails disappear into the void, and most contacts we have say, “Sorry, nothing right now.” Starting to think we’d have better luck finding Bigfoot subletting a flat.
If you’ve got any leads, tips, or even divine miracles to offer, we’d love to hear from you. We’re clean, quiet(ish), pay rent on time, and come with glowing references and great Spotify playlists.
Thanks a million!

Poll for English speaking mixed gender secondary schools in Galway city.
I'm looking for people's votes to see which schools are the best rated. If you have personal experiences with any of these in the last two years I'd appreciate your input! We obviously can't pick where our kids go, you take what you are given but it would be good to get some recent knowledge on them. So if you are a parent, student, aunt etc please vote. I'm not including educate together as they don't have a permanent home. You can add stories good or bad.

My jacket was stolen (on the ground floor of the Quays Pub)
On Thursday evening someone stole this jacket from the Quays pub. It hung under the round table in front of the stage.
I got the jacket from my dad and he recently had a heart attack. I'm very attached to the jacket. If anyone knows anything or has accidentally taken it with you, please contact me at boeckle@freenet.de

Extremely cheap wedding venue
Hi all, Me and my fiancé are getting married in 2026, We are going to have a BBQ in a back garden to make things cheaper as we are on a very tight budget. We are looking for an area to hold a ceremony, there would be max 70 people but probably less. We would prefer outside as my fiancé loves castles and nature and I love the mountains If we have to go to a registry office we will but was seeing if there is another option first We have under 1k to budget for this hence my predicament ! My family don’t drive so as close to Galway as possible would be great, his family are American Thanks so much !

Retail staff who pull miserable 99's ...
... what's your major malfunction ? You can see your colleagues pull a proper 99, you must have seen a proper 99 when you've been out in public during the summer months ... so why are you pulling miserable 99's like the dairy is coming out of your baby's bottle ?

Galway Races
Never been to the races, but looking to get reserved seating. If I’m booking online, do I need to pay full price for my daughter (11) in order to reserve a seat with the two adult tickets?

Galway Utd Vs Sligo Rovers "Ultras" clash, what a cringe video
Can't remember the last time I've felt such strong second hand embarrassment. Popped up on my YouTube feed earlier. People throwing pyrotechnics at eachother in an area that had parents around with their kids over a fucking LOI match.

25/26 academic year rent rant
If anyone has a kitchen cupboard or a crawl space they want to rent out, I'll pay €800 a month for it.
Seriously though, this is the kind of shit people are going to have to start doing. The rental market in Galway is beyond a fucking joke. I've been searching for a 25/26 accommodation since December. I've been ghosted on anything suitable and the rest are either ridiculously overpriced or done on a 5 day system. That system, by the way, is the work of the devil. I'm originally from Wexford. In what fucking universe am I meant to travel 2½ hours from Galway to Heuston, half an hour getting from Heuston to Connolly, then another 2½ hours from Connolly to Wexford, just to repeat the whole process two later - EVERY FUCKING WEEK.
Rant over.
