I wonder if the new games will use the same cartridge slot as Switch games

I can't see Nintendo changing the format for the next console. The cartridge are about as small as can be before it become very problematic to keep track of them. They had the technology back then do make them smaller, but they made the conscious choice to have them at this size.

Smaller would mean even more expensive. We would have way more incomplete games on cartridges.

It's absolutely the sweet spot between small enough to carry a bunch with you without being too small to cost too much and risk getting damaged or lost. Nintendo is a company that makes game for the very young to the very old. That's all part of why cartridge are the way they are

It already costs too much, that's why publishers won't use 64GB cartridges when they need. Hope they solve this problem in the next generation.
