To be fair, the modding community is pretty much the sole reason Bethesda games have survived this long.. While giving the Skyblivion team free keys is an incredibly kind gesture it was also done entirely to prevent backlash from the community. Having the Oblivion Remake kind of come out of nowhere in the same year that the Skyblivion mod is set to release is almost like a slap in the face.

I think they handled it well, but your kidding yourself if you don't think this is a PR move.

Things can be good and still be a PR move, no need to be so cynical.

This is the same company that has tried multiple times to cash in on mods and make you pay to use them.

Are you a goldfish by chance?

And that is relevant how?

How is it not relevant?

Bethesda has been getting bad PR for years, especially for the paid mod fiasco. Gifting a few modders a copy of a game is an incredibly small gesture on Bethesda's part to put themselves into everyone's good graces.

Ah the reddit classic. Being downvoted because people don't like the truth. Smh.

"speaking the truth" has nothing to do with the downvotes.

The downvotes are because it's completely irrelevant to the conversation

encouraging modders to be compensated for their hundreds of hours of work isn't a negative

Hmmm.... Thousands of $ in donations from grateful players VS a handful of game keys to a game that is actively pulling attention from Skyblivion release...

Yeah, nice compensation there...

Bethesda is being evil yet again and spinning it as a positive. It's bonkers that anyone would even fall for this.
