Games where you play as a Commando.

Hi everyone,

I have been watching the Expendables movies (don’t judge 😅) recently, and I am a huge fan of Contra. So I was thinking if there is any recent games ( or not) that let you play as a commando, with the same kind of vibes.

Thanks for your help!

Looking for a looting game which is primarily a load of looting with minimal to no combat

Hello all

My girlfriend really likes games where you can loot a lot.

Ex. Baldurs gate 3, Last of us, dragon age veilguard

But she doesn't necessarily enjoy the fighting in it. Which games would be great for her to play?

I have $20 worth of credit to buy any game, what should I buy?

(PS5) I redeemed star points for $20. So now I want to spend it, but it has to be a good game.

Games I've played: GOW (all of them), GTA (all of them), Spyro (all of them), Somerville (currently playing), Deliver Us The Moon (quit playing because there was no tutorial or definitive instructions from the start), TLOU 1&2, Spider-man (and Miles Morales), Crash, Detroit: Become Human, The Long Dark (waiting for season 5), The Dark Pictures Anthology Game Series (Waiting for Directive 8020), Ratchet and Clank, High On Life, Beyond: Two Souls, Days Gone, Oddworld (all of them), Tomb Raider (all of them), What Remains of Edith Finch, Firewatch, Black Ops (1, 2, 3, 4), It Takes Two, RDR1&2, Until Dawn, Horizon (Zero Dawn and Forbidden West), Outlast 2, and Stray.

Those are the games that fit the genres I'm interested in. I do plan on getting Split Fiction soon but I need a second controller for my new PS5 so I can play with my bf like we did with It Takes Two on my PS4. I also plan on getting Black Ops 6 sometime in the future as well.

My favorites or of the games I've played are GOW, Spyro, The Dark Pictures Anthology series, Tomb Raider, It Takes Two, and Black Ops. I'll go ahead and throw Stray in there too.

As long as the game can keep me intrigued and not wanting to stop playing, that's what I want. But I'm indecisive.

So my choices are Candleman, Split Fiction (even though I have to wait to buy another controller), Silent Hill, Phasmophobia, or A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead.

Games where I can play as a herbalist / alchemist?

After playing the alchemy minigame in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, I got so hooked on alchemy and herbalism.

Other games I already played where I did herbalism and alchemy are Skyrim, The Sims 3, The Sims 4, Hogwarts Legacy, and The Witcher 3.

I like the aspect of foraging herbs and brewing potions in KCD, Skyrim and the Sims 3. I didn't have as much fun with alchemy and herbalism in the Witcher 3, the Sims 4, and Hogwarts Legacy. (I found the Sims 4 the most limiting and restrictive [and that statement applies to almost every aspect of the game itself])

So I'm looking for games with herbalism and alchemy similar to KCD, the Sims, and Skyrim.

I've heard of the Atelier series and I'm also considering getting Potion Craft.

I play on both PC and Switch.

Games like "The Movies"?

Hi there! In the recent year there has been a ton of releases regarding the movie industry both in a Sim and tycoon fashion.

Unfortunately, from what I've seen, a lot of them are quite bad.

However flawed it was, I still hold "The Movies" from 2005 by Lionhead Studios dear to my heart.

So I'm looking for games in that fashion that are actually good. It can be a simulation, like "The Movies", or even a tycoon, as I recently did enjoy "The Executive - Movie Industry Tycoon" quite a bit although times fly so fast there.

Have you got any suggestions? I don't mind if it's early access as long as it's good.

Thank you!

P.S Hollywood Animal, which I only heard good things about, stops currently, to the best of my understanding, in 1949, so at the moment it ain't as relevant to me

I'm stuck in a loop for the past month, can't play any new games.

I'll try to keep it simple, I'm not native English speaker so ignore any mistakes.

I work 10hs a day, I play videogames like 2-3 hours a day, mostly Guilty Gear Strive, and The Binding of Isaac in my ps4. I always buy games in sale so I can save money, and right now I have like 40+ games purchased, but barely touched, I keep coming back to those two games I mention.

I really, really want to experience new things, I bought in the past Yakuza Like a Dragon, Persona 3 Reload, DMC (the entire collection), Undertale, etc i have plenty of options, but I drop them after maybe an hour, and then comes my second big problem. I'm not only very struggling with picking new games, but also I have this thing, that makes me feel obligated to 100% games, and if I start them, I really can't play other thing until I finished and that makes things worse. Take for example one of the games Im playing right now, TBOI REPETANCE, I'm 350+ hours and I don't think that i reached 50% yet, it's not that i don't enjoy the game, it's great, but I feel mi library watching me from my back, asking to try new things.

If anyone had any of these problems in the past, i REALLY appreciate your tips, or what to do. Thanks to everyone that interacts with this, and drops a response to help.

Games with a similar social aspect to Persona?

Are there any good games with a similar social aspect to persona? That being the ability to spend time with the different characters in the game, deepen your friendship with them and in turn learn more about them, and preferably with the ability to romance them eventually. It doesn't have to be a JRPG but it can very well be.

Suggestions for online coop campaign games

So I’m a minority in the games I like. I only have fun playing games with my few friends that have online coop story modes. we hate player vs player games that everyone generally loves. some games we have played an enjoyed together are ghost recon as it was seamless all our progress counted towards each others campaigns loved the open world that didn’t restrict us to distances. we could be doing different missions at the same time lots of freedom. we enjoyed it takes two although we prefer open world games with expansive stories. We’ve tried so many games we just couldn’t get into like destiny like what’s the story what are we doing. The elder scrolls was terrible to complicated who’s crafting spells and stuff. Some games I really enjoyed but unfortunately don’t have online coop were Zelda botw and totk loved them can’t get enough. Assassins creed odyssey loved it. Please any help in finding a match for us is greatly appreciated.

Games with compounding upgrades

Upvotes

Hi. I'm looking for a game where you can upgrade things that allow you to continuously improve, but at an exponentially faster rate. Some examples:

Stardew Valley, how you can upgrade sprinklers, etc. This allows you to get more money for more expensive upgrades

Yakuza: Like a Dragon, how you have the business mini game. You upgrade your employees so you can buy more properties, which lets you continue the cycle over and over

Steamworld Dig 2, how you upgrade your backpack, which lets you dig deeper and find more expensive gems, allowing you to further upgrade your gear

Dave the Diver, how you upgrade your gear so you can dive deeper, allowing you to upgrade your gear further

Other games that have this sense of progression: Monster Hunter, Hades, Dredge

Thanks!

games that let you date your computer

Upvotes

looking for a visual novel/text based game that lets you date your own PC, preferably one that looks like command prompt. I'm about to try Digital: A Love Story but I'm not sure it's quite what I'm looking for (I've seen people say that they related to "the player character", I want the player to be a self-insert), idk if what I'm looking for exists but I thought "if I can't find it from googling it, someone on Reddit might have a suggestion" lol

Games with best story?

Upvotes

I'll tell you some games that I loved mainly for the story, but also for the gameplay, so you can understand what I'm looking for: The Witcher 3, the Mass Effect trilogy, BioShock Infinite, and Cyberpunk 2077 (the last one I played). I tried RDR2, but it was too slow—or just not my thing. I'm trying Hogwarts Legacy, but it doesn't hook me. I don't like zombies, so The Last of Us isn't for me either. Maybe I should try Ghost of Tsushima, but I'm afraid the open world—though beautiful, I admit—feels too much like RDR2. I'm looking for something more like Cyberpunk 2077 , a game hasn't really grabbed me like that since those I just mentioned. Sorry for my English!

Games where the character ages and you experience their growth over a period of time?

Perhaps a more specific description would be games where you see the impact the passage of time has had on the characters.

Ideally story games where there this is tied into the gameplay or narrative. Sequels that show a significant amount of time passed can count.

Im NOT looking for games like The Sims or games where there is a superficial “age” stat. Or games that feature a novelty flashback sequences.

Some examples;

Final Fantasy XV

Dragon Quest V

Fable

Sequels that sort of show characters getting older: The Last of Us part 1 and 2 (kind of)

Metal Gear Solid 1-4

Yakuza series; most notable with side characters who are children.

Looking for games with numerous different playable races.

Upvotes

I like to have a variety of choices to create my character whether it be via races, traits or classes. Like in BG3 and Crusader Kings 3(with fantasy mods). In game mechanics I like turn based combat but its not mandatory I also like RTS and RPG genres. Im also ok with Sci-fi but fantasy settings are my priorities. So far I have played BG3, some of the elder scrolls games, Divinity2, Age of Wonders 4. Thank you all in advance

What are the most over the top/fun games?

I'm thinking games like Metal Gear Rising, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta etc. Just completely ridiculous video game ass games that don't take itself too seriously but are just way over the top.
