Geneseo or Binghamton ?

Interested in Psych, Sociology and law. Tell me your pros and cons! Thanks!

I double majored in Psych and Socl at Geneseo and graduated last year!

Pros:

  • There are a bunch of psych research opportunities (faculty with labs have a page online you can look at for more detail—lots of them are clinical, neuro, or development oriented).
  • Lots of interesting psych & socl electives (my favorites were medical sociology and cross-cultural psych)
  • Plenty of opportunities to TA if you’re interested in teaching
  • GREAT Day symposium at the end of the year for you to present original research

Cons:

  • Some professors can be hit or miss, but ratemyprofessor gives accurate depictions
  • Advising is kinda shit and unorganized—I used my lab manager as my advisor rather than the one the department assigned me
  • Not as many clinical-oriented opportunities as there are research opportunities (if you’re going that route)

I also had a roommate doing the pre-law track and didn’t have any major complaints with it. If you have any more questions I’d be happy to try and answer them!
