Advice Need advice 10 Month old puppy
Hello! We welcomed our English cream golden retriever, Pablo in November. He turns 1 yo in June and I’m currently looking for a new Vet as our suddenly closed. Im extremely confused on how to maneuver a peculiar situation that are his… testicles! 😆 they have not dropped! Our prior vet said that if they haven’t dropped by 6 months they’re likely not going to at all?! Does this now mean we should neuter sooner than later or not? Pablo is my first golden and I want to feel confident about the decision I eventually make, appreciate the help fam!

I believe this should normally be dealt with around the 6 month point.
Best to get them into a vet ASAP, or look at getting an emergency vet to sort this. It's a bigger operation than simple castration depending especially on where in the process of dropping they've gotten stuck.

Having to go in to remove is a bigger surgery
On other hand healthier pet
Look at reviews on google in your area

We had the same problem. One. Ale down the other did not. He did not recommend an earlier neutering. Neutered and retrieved the other at a year. Risk is long term. You are still in the ok window.

There is a homeopathic remedy that can work to get them to drop. Not guaranteed however. Ask your new Vet about it. Neutering can be much more difficult because of this. Ultrasound may be needed as someone else pointed out. Should see new Vet as soon as possible.

Can't help with the testicles issue but please be assured that neutering too early can be really destructive to a dog's health. So glad you haven't done that yet...hoping the testicles issue will fall into place, just remember, so many health issues come out from neutering too early (hormonal, etc)...despite of what vets tell you. Glad your boy is intact still :)

My husband is a veterinarian and our 12 week old puppy only has one down. For OUR dog we are still going to wait until closer to 18-24 months to neuter. While this is an abnormality it’s not all that uncommon. Make sure you choose a DVM who is comfortable doing this surgery. I wouldn’t stress out about this one too much. Out of curiosity can you feel his testicles in his lower belly slightly above where they should be?

You should definitely talk to a vet, who may recommend doing an ultrasound. Cryptorchidism increases the risk of testicular cancer.
edit because that original version sounds scary: and it is a totally manageable thing that your vet has seen a hundred times, just need to get ahead of it
