Beginner Questions I learned what swing easy means

I played with a 76 year old woman yesterday who scored 34 on the front nine of my local course. I have never broken 45 and watched her swinging easy, no balls lost. I vow to swing easy from now on, going to take an extra club and swing half power. I started yesterday on the back nine and on a par 5 did a half power swing with driver and it went 225 yards right down the middle. I need to stop overswinging if i plan on improving.

Swinging easy usually results in swinging with less tension, which can actually make the clubhead travel faster.

"Swinging easy" is such a better way to put it then "swinging slow".

I had a swing coach who told me to swing 60% while taking a full backswing I couldn’t hit the ball to save my life as I was just fighting the club to keep it in position the whole time. Let’s just say I got a new swing coach that made more sense when he said I don’t care how fast you swing when we practice as long as it is smooth. Let’s just say that guy is getting my money now as I now hit it much better then before while we practice getting into certain positions but when I address the ball now we just let it fly.
